Took about 2 hours to assemble without an electric screw driver. All parts were there, but some of the wood was splintered, but I was able to still use them. A few of my cats, Over 24 lbs, will not be able to fit through the holes. All in all, it is a little smaller looking in real life, than in the photos, but will be nice for my back yard. ... show more

The instructions are a joke, so glade we could assemble by looking at the pictures. You can throw the little screw driver away, you will need cordless screw driver. The holes are 5" circles, could be a little larger for older cats.No room to put litter box in bottom, cats have no room to use.It only took us 3 long hours to put together. Very hard to put together (had to give up and grab the power drill) - producer only drilled holes in certain parts - not the matching hole in the other part - this was for EVERYTHING. Can't get to be completely square so base boards fit properly. In several areas, wood chunks were already coming off, broke off and look bad. Some screws won't go in all the way. Horrible smell (even used an air purifier in the room, but still hasn't dissipated). Save your self time and frustration - save up some extra money and get the more expensive version by a different brand (I have 1 of each) - the other brand might cost more, but the smell leaves when the box leaves the room, it is square, easy to put together with very good instructions. The top area (penthouse) with roof on the pricer version is much better too (and not as much to put together yourself. It's worth the extra money for the other version. ... show more

My outdoor (feral) cats are enjoying their new hangout, after taking a few days (and some treats) to work up the courage to check it out. It took two of us about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to assemble it. It is definitely a two person job. Not all the pieces were stamped with their number, and it would sped things up to ID every piece, and some of the small pieces could have been put together at the factory. We added some plastic sheeting to keep the winter rains out, and so far it is working. ... show more

This cat house is pathetic. The wood is one step up from balsa wood. The instructions are bad, but what's worse is that the holes DO NOT LINE UP! And since the wood is so soft, all you have to do is back the screw up once and the hole will never hold another screw. I gave up after 4 piecess because to get to the next step, the previous holes would have had to line up, and the ones that I chose to try would have had to stay strong. Even if by some miracle you put it together, it would probably fall apart under the first strong wind. Oh, and you'd better be a puzzle wizard, because that's the only way you're going to get all the pieces--and there's a ton--it back in the box. I highly recommend you stay away from this item.
