  • Best on the market
This is without a doubt a 5 star product. The most heavy duty and well built come along I have ever owned or used. Rugged, durable, serviceable and made in the USA. This is a Wyeth-Scott product although it is sold by 3rd party retailers online. All the parts and accessories are available on the Wyeth-Scott website if you ever need them. One thing I didn't see when looking at other reviews is a comparison of exactly how big this product actually is, so I have provided a pic of it next to one of the cheap foreign made box store pullers for reference. Also, people have complained about the paint and the reason for that is stated right on the company website. This isn't a finished paint job meant to look pretty. It is simply dipped in a bucket of paint and pulled out. So expect it to chip off and stick to stuff as it is being used. In fact, I had to work the latches back and forth a few times to get some of the paint off the springs. It should be pulled out and tested and greased before using anyway to make sure it is functioning proper. You can see the grease I used in some of my pics. It was just white lithium grease in a spray can which is one of the options specified in the instructions it came with. Also, there was another review with a plastic tool box in it that has since been discontinued by the seller on Amazon. At least it was back in March 2023 when I ordered this. So I found another tool box that fits this perfectly. It is a Craftsman brand with metal latches and place for a lock. It also has storage trays in the lid for small parts like extra cotter pins and stuff that you may need. The part number is CMST20901 and the manufacturer is Craftsman. It is a 20" tool box and I included pictures of it if you want to check it out. It seems to be working well for me and the price was right. Overall very satisfied with this purchase and it expect it to last for years of hard work. ... show more

  • Stronger than I figured and works like a Champ!
I've used this several times now over the past few years. Heavy duty, heavy to carry, pulls a heavy load when I can't get to something with my Jeep winch. ROCK SOLID!

  • A MONSTER winch, well made. Rope failure due to user error, not the rope
What a monster! High quality, no doubt , and worth the $$$. A quick warning- the paint on this is thick and thus was not completely dry when we pulled it out of the box. I really wanted to keep this but it does not fit my needs, once hubby and I took a look at it and rolled the cylinder in and out to see how it locks/releases. I work in the woods alone and needed a winch in case I get my truck stuck. Wanted something that can be used on front or back of vehicle and is lighter/more compact than other portable winches. This fit those needs. However, hubby has a point, this forces me to be outside the vehicle, with no one to mange steering or braking and also, another thing I overlooked, my other work vehicle that I will be assigned to is 6700 lbs. Thus, even with a 2:1 pull system to allow for pulling 2000 lbs, this will not allow a high enough SF for me to feel comfortable - pretty risky, especially if winching alone. This product needs to be used on things much lighter in order to make an acceptable SF. The Amsteel rope is strong and for those of you who don't' know about WLL, SWL, SF, working system ratios, gravity/surface friction (pavement vs mud vs incline) and the weight of what you are going to pull, you can expect you are taking a risk of killing yourself or damaging equipment if you don't understand these acronyms and the meaning behind them!! This goes for all winches. From reading the low star comments, I can see this is happening to those who haven't looked up Amsteel specifications/warnings and who don't understand recovery techniques. See the Wyeth website for useful tips and safety info on the rope, how to wind it, inspect it, safe radius size to wrap it around. ... show more

  • Best Power Puller
Here’s the revised version: When I saw the price, I was hesitant, but when I noticed it was made in the USA, I was willing to give it a try. This thing is a beast compared to those metal cable power pullers made in China. Being able to crank it, along with the tough non-metallic rope, made me feel safer in case of a snap. Was able to pull a 50ft tree without much effort. ... show more

Made in USA. Functions extremely well and after decades of using cheap imported copies this is a dream.

  • Professional winch made in USA
Wow this is a really solid piece of equipment. Super easy to use. Getting the poly cable back in simple to do. Some one mentioned the paint yep it will chip off when used but so what. I like the length of poly cable so you get a lot out to tighten the rope that goes to the tree being cut down. The hooks are really heavy duty. The longer handle allows you to put leverage on the winch line as you tighten up. Really heavy duty weighs about 30lbs so you will get a work out. Update: this weekend cut down a 2 foot diameter by 3 stories tall tree that was damaged in wind storm. This winch made the job easy. I was able to put so much tension on the tree that by the time I started making the final cut the tree was starting to fall. Great winch. ... show more
