I don’t like to write bad reviews but because this could cause injury I was compelled to make others beware. I had been searching for a Step ladder that was sturdy for my husband. He’s a big guy 6’5 350lbs. Found this one that said supports 500 lbs. it was delivered and looks and feels great. We just wanted it for tasks around house, it was not for daily hard work related things. My husband was using it to paint trim on the house. Has stepped on it maybe 10 times at most. Today he stepped on the bottom step and the big bottom step literally buckled/bent and broke! So thankful he was not on the top step! Thankful he did not fall or get his leg caught. Very scary and super disappointing. Amazon was great as always and I received a refund but I really just wanted a good stable step ladder. Beware because someone could get seriously hurt. ... show more

I am very short and very fat. Step stools and ladders often don't work for me because I'm heavier than most weight limits. I am perfectly able to use a ladder if one exists that can accommodate my body, and would really like to have that option. I was looking for something that would support my weight. This apparently does, although I wish it felt more solid under me. I don't feel comfortable with the noticeable sink that happens when I step on each step, but it did support me on the second step and I trusted it because the alternative was to continue with no kitchen light during this pandemic or let some potentially-infectious person in to change the bulb. No on both fronts (fat people are definitely not going to win in a points-based system of rationing ventilators, regardless of the actual science, so my fat body stays inside away from other humans for the next many months, tyvm), so option three, pray the weight limit is true, was the best choice. It held my weight and I was able to change the light. However. While the ladder certainly has *deep* platforms, it is not *wide*. So it's probably good for, say, a man with narrower hips and legs but broad and heavy up top, but it is not that great for a short, fat woman with big legs/hips. (Or a person of whatever gender with those respective body shapes, you get the idea). It was awkward due to the narrowness, and I did not attach the side safety rails at all because I could not have used it with them installed. I felt okay without the safety rails; the top one was enough to hold onto and feel secure while standing and the sides were fine to hold onto while climbing up. I'm quite sure the intended user of this ladder is a mid-sized husky man with big feet, skinny legs, and a lot of heavy tools. It worked - but wasn't comfy - without the handrails for me, but if you're a fellow fat person, be aware that it's not made for round people, no matter how cute we are. ... show more

I am a big guy, and I needed something heavy duty. I agree with many of the other reviews, it is a stable, and nice stair ladder. The handles are great, the bag at the top is great. It is a VERY nice step ladder. I think for someone of smaller dimensions it would be perfect. But for a big person, this is FAR FAR TOO narrow, and I'm not 500lbs, but when I step on the bottom step, WOW! It bends and feels very weak. I can't feel safe on this thing, not even on the bottom step. For a lighter and more nimble person, probably a woman, this thing is good, but NOT for a big, wide person. I hate to do it but I'm returning it.. Bummer, I really had high hopes for this thing. ... show more

    • The handrails are the greatest feature.

I am so happy to have found this stepladder! To me, the handrails are the most important feature. Even though I appreciate the extra height for cleaning and reaching the tops of cupboards, the security of the handrails is wonderful.

This is the best step ladder I have had to date, and I have had many. It’s sturdy, not heavy, good sturdy side rails, and is just the right height prior to a 6’ step ladder. My wife is short and she can open/close and carry the ladder with no problem and she’s in her 70’s. Whoever purchases this particular ladder will not be unhappy - it comes highly recommended by me. I initially liked the fact that this stepladder is rated for extra heavyweight loads (500 pounds). I thought that this rating would give the ladder a longer lifespan for our family. No one in my family is anywhere near 500lbs, and when we placed a whole foot flat on any of the stair treads, even with the locking feature engaged, the stairs tip inwards as if the whole stepladder is going to fold up or give out. And, the stairs are EXTREMELY narrow and steep. I would not recommend purchasing this stepladder unless you were like us, and in a bind to have a sturdy one. ... show more

Super sturdy once assembled. Bought it for my elderly mother. She only needs two steps but the third step is SUPER useful for her to place things on while she goes up or down. If you USE the third step you can no longer reach the handrails. Highly recommended for home use. I am not sure it is suitable for a commercial situation. The price seemed a bit steep but now that I have seen it in person I believe it is worth every penny! Fairly light. Easily folds. Has a safety button to make folding even more secure. No-slip grippy step treads. Easy to clean. I am letting my 75 year old mother use it.... I can't possibly give a higher recommendation! Buy this! ... show more
