This is the step stool for the bigger person who needs to gain some reach. As shown in the pictures the construction is tubular metal with very wide and durable steps, grippy feet and solid riveted construction. The top step is solid and flat and provides great support. As mentioned, it folds super flat and could be easily hidden in a closet or behind a door. The top has a foam grip. It is straight up on the sides, I’m more familiar with ladders that flare out at the lower steps which provides a bit of extra stability. But the straight up design can fit in narrow places that a flared stool can’t so its a bit of a ying-yang trade off, stability v accessibility. I wish it had some sort of a detachable tray at the top where one could place tools or the nuts and bolts that are usually for an overhead job or even painting. Other step ladders have found a way to incorporate an accessory tray into the design. I must say is a bit on the heavy side but that is because of the materials of construction. I’m okay with the weight as a 200+ plus guy since I feel super secure on this step stool. A 125lb person could get by with a much lighter aluminum ladder.

We got this ladder to get things on the top shelf of the kitchen and I'm very impressed with its stability and the steel construction feels super solid, but the problem is when opening and closing it, the ladder is very stiff and not fluid like I was hoping it would be. Some of the time we think it is open all the way only to find that it clicks into the locked position when we stop on the top step. Then to close it some of the time we have to make sure we get into the correct position or I don’t have the strength to close it. I will say that I have never been afraid of it giving out on me, so it is super stable and strong. The wide, anti-slip pedals are a great feature too since they provide a stable platform for my feet. Also this ladder is heavy but it makes sense since has the 900lbs capacity.

This weighs 17.5 lbs and is a bit more than the typical 1 step or 2 step ladder stool, but the extra steps gets you a lot higher. So it's easy to decorate the XMas tree, handle lighting even on top the gutters and patio without breaking out the full 6 or 7 foot ladder. I can't think of a way to test it's 900 lbs capacity, but it's very solid even when standing on the top "seat". This kind of capacity is like a work ladder where you can carry up tile blocks or lumber, but then it's really to short that those kinds of jobs. Still, it's nice and solid and made of steel. I like the rubber grip on the top bar to carry it with some cushion. It folds up nicely for storage and is easy to open and then snap down the top to keep it fully open. Its very stable on level floors. Outside on some uneven concrete, I was able to spread the legs open at a slight angle to keep all 4 feet touching the ground. All the steps are connect to each other and they open all at the same angle. It's a great addition to our 2 step ladder and 7 foot ladder and fits in the middle.
