I've been trying to find a unit that works dependably in my 2022 Volvo CX-5 with CarPlay, and I think I finally have it. Volvo only offered wired CarPlay, and I've tried 2 other adapters with no luck, but with this one I just plugged it in (comes with a USB A and USB C connector, but every car I've seen uses the A), connected to it with Bluetooth, clicked "Yes" a few times and Voila! A new "window" came up on my screen, which responds to my Volvo Command Knob. I select "Speed Play", and I get my regular CarPlay screen. Google Maps and audio streaming are working just like I was using wired CarPlay. Now when I start my car it takes about 15s to see the "new" screen, then I select Speed Play" and in ~ 10s I get the regular CarPlay screen on my display. Maybe slightly slower than if I plugged my phone in, but without the hassle / problem and extra wires everywhere. So far, 5 stars. Now the downside: If you have Android (I don't), you have to get a "TF" card somewhere, write a text file on it, then insert it into the unit to change it over to Android Auto. I can't imagine buying a new converter and having to do all that. You'd have to do that again to change it back. Other units change over with a click of a button (but they did not work for me at all, so I guess they didn't really change over for me either). Anyway, for CarPlay this units seems great, but if I had Android I'd buy a unit that could do that out of the box. Update: After 3w I am getting a message saying "Your Certificate is about to expire, connect to the network to update". It needs a wifi connection to update, but when I try to connect I get to the Password screen but can't access the keyboard to put in the password, so I can't connect it to wifi. So far I dismiss the message and it keeps working. We'll see it it develops some other problem, if so I will update this review. Haven't been able to figure out how to reach manufacturer yet to ask, maybe they will see this and contact me.
