It is great set of tools for taking care of tree trimming and clean up…!!

  • Great tool but.......
The chainsaw attaches to the extension pole via the battery holder. The chainsaw battery holder is held together by 2 plastic parts that fit together and snap into the chainsaw housing. The first time that the saw jams on a tree limb, it will pull apart. If you are careful, you can snap it together again. You need to make sure that the 2x2 pc board that controls the motor and the heatsink fit correctly before snapping the plastic parts together. Could be a problem for a typical homeowner. After the first time, the battery holder falls apart even without jamming the saw - just from the weight of the saw on the branch that you are cutting. If you look at the pictures, I first used 2 aluminum pop rivets to hold the thicker part together, later a drilled and tapped 2 - 4-40 machine screws on the thinner side. On hindsight using machine screws instead of rivets would make it easier. I would avoid sharp sheet metal screws due to wires. Anyway, after those fixes, I probably cut 50 branches from 2 in dia. to 4 inch diameter, without issue. Chain likes to loosen, but easy to fix - loosen chainsaw bar screw and bar has spring tension. Does not appear to use a lot of chainsaw oil?? I found it easier (as an old person) to cut the branches while sitting on my zero turn mower. Basically - extend pole saw while vertical so that the saw just reaches the branch. Let the branch support the weight of the saw. Hold pole maybe 75 degrees with the ground so that the branch will not fall on your head. Then turn on the saw and get ready to support saw after it cuts through....it cuts fast. Cut lower branches first so that upper branches will not hang up on lower branches and bind the saw. ... show more

  • 6" and 8" portable handsaw with 2 batteries and extension pole that reaches about 15 feet
First, there's a well-designed electric handsaw with 6" and 8" bars and cutting chains. It comes with two 21V, 4 amp-hour batteries that are compatible/interchangeable with Dewalt batteries, chargers and tools (a big plus for those of us that have those things!). It comes with its own charger, of course. The saw has an oil reservoir for automatic oiling of the chain. A small funnel is provided for adding the oil to the reservoir. The tension of the blade is easily adjusted with a side-mounted screw handle that is also the cover lock for installing the chain onto the motor sprocket. The hand guard is substantial, more so than any other electric handsaw I've reviewed. The trigger requires pushing in a safety release button which can then be released once the motor begins - a big plus over those that have to be held in continuously while sawing. The back of the saw has a button and light indicator for selecting one of 3 saw chain speeds. Choosing a higher or lower chain speed can help prolong battery life and make cutting speed fit the task, a feature I've not seen on any other hand chainsaw. Next, the extension pole in 3 sections, extends just over 10 feet. Added to your height, it can make cuts about 15 feet above ground. The battery is installed in the base, and the saw is mounted at the end. It is rotatable to allow cutting from above or below the branch. There are two rings around the padded lower section for attaching a strap that goes over your shoulder to reduce strain of carrying the entire assembly. The sections lock in place easily. The end of the pole has a mount which pivots 180 degrees for cutting upward or downward and any angle in between. The handle end also rotates, so you don't have to lower the saw end to switch orientation of the saw, a great feature! The pole trigger is similar to that of the saw - you can release it once the saw is running. Another hand guard completes the pole assembly. Also included with the set is a Phillips screwdriver which works on all the screws of the pole and saw, a second chain bar, a chain bar cover, a cleaning brush, a file for sharpening the chain, and the 6" chain. Two manuals for use are also included, with detailed instructions for cleaning, use, etc. A carrying bag, long enough to hold the retracted pole, the saw, both batteries and the additional tools is barely big enough to fit everything inside. After doing some trimming of dead branches on an oak tree, I was pleased with the overall performance and ease of use of the combination pole and saw. While I wouldn't consider this a professional pole saw, it is quite sufficient for homeowner use. Extensive, intensive use by professionals would be very demanding and probably requires metal parts more than the plastic ones on this unit. But this set is quite adequate for the average homeowner's occasional/seasonal use in keeping their trees trimmed. I recommend it, 5 stars. ... show more

  • Well made. Works great. Also compatible with Dewalt 20V batteries.
First of all, let me make it clear: this kit includes the 8" chainsaw and the telescoping pole. The 8" chainsaw is a standalone unit, and you can always use it without the pole. The chainsaw is well made, featuring 3 speeds with a control button. The guide pin is spring-loaded, so adjustment is easier: just loosen the yellow nut, pull the guide plate out, then tighten the nut (make sure you tighten it well because, from what I can tell, it uses friction to lock the guide plate). The chainsaw cuts well and works great. It’s also compatible with Dewalt 20V batteries. The pole is telescoping style and extends from 5 feet to 11 feet with a quick-lock lever. The head can tilt 180° with 13 lock positions (15° each), and the handle at the bottom can rotate 180° into 3 positions: 0°, 90°, and 180°. The battery installs on the bottom of the pole, while the chainsaw slide into the head at the battery compartment. There’s also a secondary lock on the head - you have to pull it out to unlock before installing the saw. ... show more
