  • Air vent for water storage barrels
Model: 3/4inch
Needed a vent that would release the air as I filled two barrels with emergency drinking water without spilling water all over when filled. Worked fine, allowing the air to escape as the two barrels filled. Once full, this valve stopped the water flow, keeping the garage dry.

  • You know when you need one
Model: 1 inch
I have just installed a large 2 inch water disk filter for our sprinkler system which runs off of irrigation water. Irrigation water needs to be filtered to avoid your sprinkler heads and drip emitters from clogging up. These large filters are used very often, both in residential and in agriculture, and it is recommended to install the filter upside down so maintaining and cleaning the filter is much easier. The problem mounting these filters, or any tank that contains water upside down, is the tank can trap air in the top. This air will continue to build in the top of the tank and push the water down. Eventually the air needs to be bled off so the entire filter surface can come into contact with the water again. You either need to remember to bleed off the air manually with a valve or use an automatic air release valve that works continuously. This is where the CBTLYSK Air Release Valve comes in. This valve will discharge the air automatically and continuously from all kinds of tanks, pipes, canisters, and reducing the gathering of air in the tank. This CBTLYSK Air Release Valve is well built and out of Polyamide which is basically nylon that has a long service life, is corrosion resistance, acid and alkali resistance, rugged, and durable. It can handle pressure up to 145 psi and has an insect screen in the exhaust port to keep it clean. It just needs to be installed at the highest point of the system and orientated vertically since the internal float must be in a vertical position so it can function properly to exhaust the air. I am very pleased with the size, build quality, and continuous bleed function. I made one mistake though when ordering the CBTLYSK Air Release Valve. Even though the valve body is the same, the valve comes in three different NPT thread sizes; 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch, and 1 inch. They look identical except for the thread size. I ordered the 1 inch thread but my tank canister port has 3/4 inch threads. Not a big deal, I will just put in a small PVC pipe adapter. Selecting the different thread size is not a pull down option on the Amazon CBTLYSK Air Release Valve page, each size is a different CBTLYSK listing. It is just good to pay attention to the thread size you are ordering on Amazon. Good, rugged, air release valve at a good price ... show more

  • Effective Air Release Valve for Rain Barrels
Model: 1/2inch
The CBTLYSK 1/2 inch Air Release Valve with NPT Thread Connection has proven to be a valuable addition to my rain barrel setup, especially in the southern regions where mosquitoes are a constant concern. This valve effectively seals the barrels, preventing mosquito entry, while allowing continuous air venting as needed. So far, the valve has performed well, keeping the mosquitoes at bay and maintaining proper air flow out of the barrels. Its sturdy construction suggests it will hold up well in agricultural and industrial applications as well. Overall, this air release valve is a practical and effective solution for managing air flow in water tanks and rain barrels, while also providing protection against pests. Highly recommended for anyone dealing with similar issues. ... show more

  • Using to vent 55 gallon gas drums
Model: 3/4inch
I got this to vent a 55-gallon drum I use for gasoline. It installed easily into the 3/4" center hole of the buttress bung cap. So far, it's working great. We'll see how it stands up over time as I don't think this is the intended purpose.

  • Failed for stacked rain barrels
Model: 1/2inch
Updated March 19, 2025 I redesigned my system and put 2 of these on the lower set of barrels. Both failed to shut when the barrels filled. I'd been very careful to install them perfectly level as stated in the instructions. I had to go back to a different venting method. I think that there wasn't enough MINIMUM water pressure needed to close them when they are set up the way I have them. They should be just fine in pressurized water set ups. See pictures. =========================================== I should have ordered the 3/4 inch version; but this 1/2 inch one will get used with some poly-pipe and fittings to control (3) 55 gallon barrel at once. I did order the 3/4 inch version to control the first barrel in my (4) barrel system. It took me a few years to figure out how to vent my horizontal barrels to get them 100% full instead of having the last 5 gallons be unusable air space at the upper part. You need to make a vent at the end of the barrel just as if you planned to to put a tap, drain, or spigot there with it standing on end. Then, attach a length of hose that has to go higher than the level of the fill tube. That vents the space so that it fills completely. Getting the vent tubes set up properly, and making them bug proof takes some trial and error. Or, you can use this Air Release Valve; and you're set in one step. I didn't know these were available until this week. I've been experimenting for 12 years! This valve works in the same way a wet dry shop-vac does to protect the motor. There is a float inside that lets air flow out until the water pushes it all the way up; and closes the valve. And, when the water goes down; it prevents a vacuum from forming in the barrel (Trust me, you don't want that to happen) and that allows the water to flow normally. Also, when a barrel isn't vented properly, it will compress the trapped air inside that cause all sorts of problems besides not filling 100%. This valve takes care of that too. So, it would have been worth the asking price for me to have gotten it from the start. But, installing (4) in a connected system like mine isn't necessary; and probably wouldn't work on the (2) lower ones because the valve needs to open to let the water out. But, it can be done with (1) vent and some poly-pipe with fittings to connect the lower barrels to one on top. I'll be setting up the 1/2 inch valve to do that once my system has used up the water in the upper barrels. I'll keep it on the first barrel with adapters to fit the 3/4 inch tap hole until the 3/4 inch valve arrives to replace it. So, watch this review over the next few months for updates on both sizes. ... show more
