  • Pretty Nice For The Price
We live in hot and humid Southwest Florida where it rains a lot in the summer. Since we're in the tropics we usually get a heavy rain every day during the summer season. With rainfall comes standing water and perfect conditions for breeding mosquitoes and the infamous Florida Yellow Biting Flies. Yes, the Zika virus is a current concern, but the county is pretty efficient at spraying and keeping the mosquitoes under control. What we have more trouble with is the biting Yellow Flies! These nasty little critters are attracted to dark colors and carbon dioxide. One of our Irish Wolfhounds is so afraid of them that he runs to "Daddy" whenever they start to swarm around him -- like I can protect him from these little relentless kamikaze vampires. They hurt when they bite and you can't always tell when they've landed on you until that searing pain gets your attention. Typically when you're trying to kill the one biting you another one sets himself up for a meal. And on, and on, and on...... Riding my lawnmower and doing any type of yard work sets me up as a nice juicy (and large) target. I always try to maintain discipline and wait until the little buzzards quit flying around me and land on my exposed skin, but seldom are you dealing with just one. So now when I work outside I wear pants, long sleeves, and one of these Olymstore Beekeeping hats. A few blasts of Deep Woods Off or Cutters seems to help a bit but the mesh on the hat is what protects my face and neck. These hats only cost about $1.00 each but provide pretty good protection from the biting insects of Southwest Florida. They are very light weight, you can see through the mesh with no problem, and they prevent insects from getting to your neck and face. However they are also very flimsy and won't survive any type of damage. They are also loose fitting and the netting doesn't extend much below your chin. It is a little unnerving when a biting yellow fly lands on the mesh just outside of your eye but you eventually get conditioned to that. The light weight and see-through mesh makes you forget that you have it on. Several times now I have taken a break and tried to drink out of my water bottle before remembering that I still have the hat on. These hats must be some manufacturer's close outs so don't feel badly about taking advantage of it. Buy several and give some to your friends. I did -- and they were VERY appreciative. ... show more

  • JUST so so
These are pretty flimsy but do keep the annoying bugs off you. One of the hats was coming apart at a seam on top but still usable.

  • Cicada Invasion Protection
I got these for cicada invasion protection for a bug-o-phobic family member. It worked well protecting their face from the hoard of flying demons. My only concern - did the camo actually attack the beasts?? Or was my family member just unlucky?? These things are cheap and great for protecting agains the impending doom of flying primordial beasts. The hat and mesh have been sturdier than I expected. I brought four for our cicada invasion - planning on one a week as they were cheap in cost - but only ended up needing one for the whole 17 year arising. ... show more

  • Protect the eyes and airways
Easy to use and very compact. Folds up to slide into a zip-lock sandwich bag. Keeps the girls away from my eyes and mouth. My wife is the only female I want near my lips... Great for quick inspections.

  • These hats are marvelous - well priced and perfect for what I need
These hats are marvelous - well priced and perfect for what I need. I have carpenter bees buzzing all around my apartment and bee phobia so I am at real risk of being too scared to leave or re-enter my apartment. Thanks to these hats I can wear them and it gives me a feeling of protection so I can manage the phobia better. Given their reasonable price one can also get many of them to keep so one is always at hand! I also look forward to wearing one on walks to keep mosquitoes off my face without having to use repellent. ... show more
