My 18-lb Havanese doesn't understand the concept of steps -- not the "step" part, at least. He just takes a flying leap over them. He's now 13, and that's getting difficult and risky, thus this ramp. I have a different brand, longer, for different steps. I covered the base of that one with a yoga mat, because it was too slippery. He used it without hesitation from Day 1. This one has a base that has good traction, but it's gritty, which scares him off. Treats placed as enticements seem to be helping. If he keeps being afraid of that surface, I'll find another damaged yoga mat to cut to cover it. The ramp is sturdy enough, and I'd measured before ordering to make sure it fits the intended space, which it does. The only thing I don't like is that the end that goes at the beginning of it, from the dog's perspective, fills easily with rainwater. So after making sure that it's stable, I have to tilt it up to dump that and resettle it constantly so he won't avoid it for that reason. In our summer drought season, that won't be a problem. But about 8 months out of the year here in the Pacific Northwest, it is. ... show more

DO NOT BUY this pet ramp! I bought it for my miniature dachshund to use outside going down and up 3 low-rise steps at my front door. (1) The headline and the listing both say the ramp is 39 inches long. But, the usable portion -- the ramp -- which goes from the bottom where it rests on the sidewalk to the top where it rests on the top of the front stoop -- is only 36 inches. I had measured carefully. Those missing 3 inches make it worthless. The dog should be able to step on, seamlessly, at the top of the ramp and step off, seamlessly, at the bottom of the ramp. (2) The non-slip portion of the ramp has an extremely rough sandpaper surface that could be damaging to dog paws -- especially for an indoor dog or a dog that is sick or elderly. Completely unacceptable. The shorter-than-described ramp and the extremely rough surface that could be damaging to dog paws was not described at all. I am very unhappy with this product! It came from Wayfair via Amazon. Frankly, I thought both Wayfair and Amazon were better than this. I would have given this Trixie pet ramp 0 stars if I could have. Bad Trixie! Bad! Bad, bad, bad! Bad Wayfair and Amazon! Bad! Bad, bad, bad! UPDATE: The day after I received this useless pet ramp I requested a return. Even though the Amazon headline for the ramp listing says it is 39 inches, it is really only 36 inches, top to bottom. And, nowhere in the listing does it say that an extremely rough sandpaper surface is what they call non-slip. Further, the listing says this is for small, elderly or sick dogs. How much worse would an elderly or sick dog feel with their paws rubbed raw on this extremely rough sandpaper "non-slip" surface? To add insult to injury, I now have to pay the shipping costs for the return -- even though it was Amazon's and Wayfair's fault for misrepresenting the product: (1) Listing an incorrect measurement and (2) Not stating that the non-slip surface is sandpaper rough. I am going to contact my credit card company. Amazon and Wayfair misrepresented this ramp. If Amazon and/or Wayfair won't pay for the return shipping I want the charge reversed and I will trash the ramp. DO NOT BUY this ramp if you care about your pet! ... show more

The ramp itself is fine. It’s sturdy and seems to be one injection-molded piece. The ramp itself has grip tape. This was likely meant for your dog’s traction (as it’d otherwise be a small slide) but in function it’s more like sandpaper. My dog hated the feeling and was scared of it. The angle of the ramp is also very steep. While this will vary depending on the surface its attached to, it’s a lot more steep than small dogs may be comfortable using. To fix these issues, I recommend buying seven 8” carpet samples, cutting them in half, then gluing them over the grip tape section of the ramp. To fix the steepness, I recommend stacking something under the lower portion of the ramp, such as a few tiles of a foam playmat. To get your dog used to going up and down the ramp, I recommend using treats along the ramp. I also recommend using a command such as “up!” and “down!” for them to get accustomed. I also highly recommend you mirror the behavior by going up and down the ramp for them to follow suit. It took some work, but my dog is happy using his ramp after some adjustments and training ... show more

I looked for all sorts of ramps to make it easier to get my e-bike (aka very heavy bike) in and out of my porch where it lives. Most were super expensive and designed for way too much weight--like those used to get motorcycles onto truck beds. Others looked pretty good but came in pairs. This is perfect. The made in China ramp is sturdy and wide enough for my husky/malamute mix. The slip resistant surface is an added safety feature not found on all ramps. It appears to be sturdy enough, but when folding for storage, we couldn't get it to stay. Then we found the small piece with the screw of plastic in the box. Not worth hassle of me getting this box to return, but the lock should definitely be stronger.
