    • Very nice but not really my cupp of tea
First off let me qualify this review by saying that I did receive this item as a part of their tester program. I but the item, use and write a review and then get refunded the cost of the item. Now with that out of the way, This camera is a pretty nice camera. I have a dedicated PC set up with nine IP cameras recording 24/7. All of my cameras (except this one) is hard wired to my NVR and I am not a big fan of WiFi cameras. However, I will have to say that this camera is pretty nice. The video quality is good booth day and night. There is only two sensitivity setting for motion detection and the work pretty well. I have mine set to record for 1 minute after a motion detection event. There should be plenty of storage on an SD card to save weeks worth of motion events. I can not comment on the "cloud" because there is no way in He!! that I would allow someone else to control my videos. I can not compare this type of video camera with the other "doorbell" or WiFi cameras but it seems to me that there is quite a lag between the time a motion event occurs and when a notification pops upon my phone. The two way audio works very good and I really impressed my daughter talking to her through the camera while she was outside and I inside. I purchased this camera on May 17, 2020 and it promptly arrived two later. I charged it over night and installed it the next day. I connected to the camera using the app easily and it all works nicely. I do think the appis a little cumbersome to use. For me, it would be nearly impossible to talk live with someone as they stand at our front door. Either the camera take too long going through the cloud to notify me or it takes too long to to fiddle my way through the app to get to the screen to talk to someone. There should be a way to tap the notification on the phone and take me directly to page in the app where I could talk to a person at my door live. But then again, maybe there is and I haven't figured it out yet. Maybe it all works better when you connect to their cloud but I will not do that. Battery life is pretty good. I have been running this camera since May 19+/- and the battery level is at 35%. So that's about 3 months and probably about another month before I have to charge it. I would think that is pretty good for a camera like this. All in all, its a good camera but falls a little short of my expectations of what this type of camera should do. I would recommend if you are looking for a camera with good quality video and being able to save and store our own videos instead of using the cloud. ... show more

I like the camera, it doesn’t have the best quality but it does the job you get what you paid for. It’s okay for me and what I’m using it for. The solar panel however is awful terrible I don’t even think it’s working. It’s a good thing The battery in the camera is not all that bad. It will stay for a few days before you have to recharge it. UPDATE: after 1 year's use, the camera is fine but the solar panel gave out so the camera lost power. Covered under warranty?? I don't think so... My application is outdoor surveillance and motion detection in a rural setting. The camera is solid, nicely made, and has great picture quality. Night vision was *really* good (compared it to two other cameras...this one was head and shoulders above the others. Setup was WAAAAY easier than the other cameras, the instructions are actually understandable, and the app is simple and intuitive. Because it has two antennas, its WiFi was better than the other ones I tested. The warranty is TWO years, way better than the others. Some annoyances: - the mounting swivels are crummy, you'll find it difficult to point the camera and solar panel accurately. - the app has some user interface quirks that take a while to get used to. The video-history-timeline makes it almost impossible to navigate before midnight "yesterday". - the camera battery shows 100%, even when it clearly isn't Some things to think about: - While it's certainly waterproof to some extent, any serious usage (or serious weather) dictate the need for putting it in some sort of enclosure. Sun, rain, and ice will be particularly problematic. This is probably true of any camera. - Motion detection is good for maybe 20 feet, but it only really works for humans or larger animals (e.g., bigger than raccoons) - There does not appear to be a PC version of the app. - There's no fast-forward or rewind for watching recordings. This means most recordings will have to be short. - Currently, you get the solar panel for free only if you order in a special way on Amazon or write a review like this one. Sigh.... ... show more

Easy install! Picture/video quality is great as well as night vision. Motion detection is on point. For the price, this setup is above my expectations. Ability to map out a zone and the camera detects objects such as people/cars/packages. Will buy more for other areas of the home. Battery life is great with solar panels as source. ... show more

This is my 4th Hosafe wifi camera. 2 of the others are solar and one is PTZ but this is my first solar, Pan/Tilt WiFi cam. While I like the tracking feature my plug-in PTZ offers, the motion detection seems much better with this one. The app features are better for this cam (VicoHome) vs. the other cams’ apps (CloudEdge & CamHipro). The person/vehicle/pet detection is pretty good so far. I will be very impressed if this cam holds up as well as the other Hosafe cams I have given the wind & rains they are subject to regularly. I mounted this on a piece of 2x4 with ropes around a palm tree. Overall I am very pleased with this cam. ... show more
