The fabric snaps onto the metal rings with plastic clips then you have to velcro the fabric together. the top metal ring is so close to the top edge of the shade that the metal ring is easily visible if it is sitting on a table. Very cute lamps. Have to assemble but very easy to do so. Only negative is that the light switch knob has stripped from the screw and falls off frequently. It also is a one click to turn on and off, most lamps are 2 clicks, so it has taken some time to get used to. Other wise, very cute lamps.

These are lovely lamps. Nicely packed, instructions in marked envelope even came with a white glove for handling shade! Assembly was relatively easy. Just as described. The comor is more a grey taupe but they even look better thank the pictures. The shades took some time to look even but now you can tell is the snap type. They are wall and simple for a rustic style.
