I have THICK hair, but the strands themselves are baby fine. So it is VERY hard to get my hair to curl, let alone hold that curl. I've tried hot roller, rods, etc. and none of them worked for my hair. I saw reviews on these from people with hair like mine, so I thought I would give it a go. I am SO glad that I did. The curls are GORGEOUS and last all day and part of the next (if I'm careful how I sleep.) My hair reaches just above my natural waist when straightened, so I ordered the longest ones (75cm) but probably could have gotten away with the next size down. Because my hair is so thick I ordered two packages. Again, probably could have gotten away with one, but to keep the hair from being too thick in the sleeves, I did about 3/4" sections. I used a curl defining serum on the portion that went into the sleeve and argon oil on the upper part of the sections to help prevent frizzing. Tips and tricks: I've tried these three ways: sleeping in them, wearing them around, and with a dryer bonnet. The best for me was the bonnet, because it went so fast. Sleeping in them wasn't terrible uncomfortable, depending on how close to your scalp you place them. Though, it did leave weird kinks in my hair where it entered the sleeve. A little dap of water at those spots relaxed the kink considerably. When pulling sections into the sleeves, I've found it easiest to make sure the hair is fully saturated (almost dripping) to help it slide better. If not, it gets tangled inside the sleeve and the curl comes out weird or not shaped at all. When pulling hair through, make sure to keep the top squeezed open until all the hair is in place, or it will knot and it's a PAIN getting the wand out of the sleeve if it's tangled in hair. Make sure to keep the top squeezed open when dry and removing the hair from the sleeve, as well. I've discovered if you lightly twist the hair just above where you want the curl to start, it's easier to keep it in the hook when starting the sleeve. (Make sure to untwist when done or you'll get a weird kink.) The sleeves come vacuum packed, so open the container and lay them out a few hours before you want to use them to help them regain their shape. (I got tired of waiting so I just heated them up with a blow dryer and worked them over with my fingers and they were perfectly reshaped in about 3-5 minutes.) Positives: Very easy to use (once you get the hang of it) Defined, consistent curls No heat damage Works on fine and thick hair Negatives: The wands are sturdy, everywhere except the joints *eye roll* (One broke half way through, and the other just wouldn't stay connected. I used duct tape on one (worked great) and super glued the other (broke again.)) Have a weird plastic smell, but it does go away. Takes a fair amount of practice to make sure the hair isn't tangled while inserting into the sleeve. ... show more

i bought these and i think they work well. even with my waist length thick hair it still held pretty well. i don’t recommend wetting it before you put them in to much. maybe a light spritz but i never do. you only have to leave them in for a few hours, if hair is dry. the only reason i give it a four is because the sticks kept coming apart after i used them for a while. but i just taped them together and it works great now! ... show more

This was so hard to use. The plastic stick you pull your hair with is so fragile a piece broke so I had to throw that away and sometimes the stick would come apart so I’d have to take the hair out and restart. My hair kept getting stuck. Not sure if it was getting too dry so I rewet it and it still you get stuck. Tried smaller pieces… nope. About 90% of the time it pulled my hair. Not good for your hair. Mine came in the mail, and they were ruined because of the vacuum seal method of shipping. I was trying everything to save them and I figured it out!! I opened all of the seals, made sure the stick could go through all of them, stretched them out, and loosened them up as much as possible. They were still misshapen. Then I thought of putting them all in a large pillow case, I put a few dryer sheets in it, and two of my husbands heavy, thick, and CLEAN 😂 socks in it to jostle them around a little. I tight the top tight, but tied it as far to the top as possible to give them room to toss. I I put them on the dryer for maybe 15 minutes. I pulled them out and they looked perfect like the picture above!!! Hope this helps someone. I still haven’t tried the actual curl power of them yet! ... show more

I got these for my daughter. I tried them out on myself first. It took me over an hour to put them into my hair, so I’d you’re looking for a time saver, this is not it. I feel it could go faster with practice but I found myself getting frustrated because my hair would get all tangled. Be sure to use small strands of hair. Sleeping in them was super uncomfortable as they are heavy and stiff. The result though was amazing, very beautiful, right ringlets! I have thick, LONG (I sit on it when it's straight), already curly hair - but the length of my hair pulls my natural curls to waves. I bought two packs of the 27" curlers (had to adjust how high up I went so the ends of my hair were in the curlers), and let my hair air-dry for a while before hitting it with the blow dryer (they started to get heavy after a couple hours lol).
