I couldn't find non-smart televisions at Walmart. Looked online and found that Continu.us had them in stock with free shipping. It was easy to connect to the cable and easy to set up (unlike a smart tv)! I know I am in the minority in wanting a non smart television, but I don't like having televisions, cell phones, cars...etc that are smarter than me! ... show more

Firstly, the last tv I had, I purchased from a thrift store 10 years ago, it weighed 70 pounds and I had to use a transformer just to hook it up to a DVD player and forget about hooking it up to my receiver. 1990 kept calling saying they wanted their tv back, but I kept letting it go to voicemail until now. 1990 is happy. I’m happy. With that being said, this is the first flat-screen I’ve had in my life and so I can’t compare it’s quality to other modern TVs. On with the review... it was packaged really well and arrived without damage. (Amazon delivered it to my neighbor though. I’m glad I have honest neighbors). The tv was easy to set up, and is sturdy on its base/feet and it hooks up to my DVD player. The sound quality on its own isn’t that great, but I’m a snob about sound quality, which is why I’m SUPER happy that I can hook it up to my receiver/external speakers and it sounds crystal clear. I don’t have cable or dish, and I mainly bought this to hook up to my laptop and Chromebook to watch Netflix or YouTube or whatever. I was confused at first and tried to connect my laptop via USB which, in retrospect, makes no sense at all. After connecting it with an HDMI cord, it was in extended screen mode, so I had to go to the settings on my computer to switch to mirror mode before my screen was projected. I’m providing this info in case whoever is reading this is a bit technologically challenged like myself. The screen quality is good but, again, I’m comparing this to a 1990s TV, so I don’t know how the screen compares to similar brands. Lastly, it came with batteries for the remote, which is just a little detail that I appreciated. So there ya go.... I’m really happy with my little TV and I hope this review helped you. ... show more

The picture quality is quite decent. Not sure if this TV is 720p or 1080p. The specifications say 720p. However, the TV does accept, and display a 1080p signal. There does not seem to be a difference in the picture quality between 720p and 1080p. So, my guess is that this TV down converts 1080p to 720p. However, sound from the internal speakers is tinny. Much more tinny than comparable TVs. No matter how one adjusts the bass and treble, sound quality seems sub-par. Hence, a sound bar is an absolute must. Switching inputs is also a pain. One has to press the input button, then the up/down arrow buttons to highlight the input and then the select/ok button to select the input. Pressing the input button multiple times will not cycle through inputs. Also, without pressing select/ok, the input will not change to the highlighted input. This is the most user unfriendly way I have seen the input selection work on any TV. Had to explain how to change inputs to kids and other adults in the house. This is not a smart TV as well. For the price, I would expect more. Unless you absolutely need a TV of this size, or the various inputs and outputs, there are lot more options for TVs, for a lot less money. I only choose this model for the 28" size. This is a hard size to find, as usually you get 24" and 32" TVs. ... show more

It weights much less than I expected, nearly feather light. Picture quality is very good. Sound quality is just ok, but with audio out and ability to turn off internal speakers, a sound bar is perfect with it. The menus are easy to navigate. Remote works, but buttons feel a little spungy. There are more connectors on the back then you will ever need. It picked up more channels over the air than my old tv, so tuner is very good. If it wasn’t for the higher price than 32 inch class tvs, I would say it is nearly perfect if you need this specific size. ... show more

This TV is perfect for the small room I’ve put it in, as long as I close the blinds. Otherwise there's a major glare. But in dim light the 720p HD picture looks great. One of the most important features for me is the generous number of HDMI ports—three! Most TVs this size have only one or two. I have both a Roku and a Blu-Ray/DVD player connected to it, and may eventually add a DVR box. In addition, there’s an optical audio output port, which has turned out to be just what I needed, as I’m not terribly impressed with the sound quality of the TV speakers (even though a couple of other reviewers were happy with it. I certainly wouldn’t call it “stunning,” but then the TV in my living room has a 5.1 home theater speaker system, which I admit has spoiled me). So I bought a 28” sound bar for about $70. Much improved! The TV’s HDMI3 port is ARC capable, by the way, in case you have a sound bar with an HDMI port. My cheap one doesn’t, but it works great with the optical cable. I also wasn’t crazy about the little plastic feet that comprise a stand for this TV—especially since the feet wouldn’t have raised the TV enough to accommodate the sound bar, so I also purchased a tabletop TV stand for about $27, which mounted easily. If you also decide to dispense with the cheap little feet, don’t throw the little screws away. I needed them to mount the stand, which came with many different sizes of machine screws, but not the size that fits this TV. All in all, a great bargain, plenty of bang for your buck! I'd give it four and a half stars if I had that option. ... show more
