This can be set up two different ways to fit either a round bird feeder pole or a 4x4 (which for non Americans is actually a 3.5 inch x 3.5 inch square fencepost). It Actually keeps the rats out! We have a camera feeder, so we would get nice little snapshots of the rodents going to town 😳 Several months and no rats.

I waited several weeks before declaring this victory, but I am now 100% confident in saying that my Pirateant Bafffle has defeated even the most determined squirrels. I placed the baffle on the roof of a bird feeder I hung from a limb. After multiple attempts, the squirrels figured out how to balance themselves on top of the baffle, but it is too wide to allow them to hold on to the top with their feet and reach down to pilfer the bird seed. They can't even get close before tumbling off head-first. If you have been frustrated by squirrels looting your bird feeders this is the product for you!

I received this item four days after ordering. It arrived with all parts needed to mount it based on several options - a feeder pole, wooden post, or even a tree. It includes all hardware needed for any of the three options, plus an instructional page with images. All that's needed is a small Phillips head screwdriver. We have a feeder pole so that is the assembly option we chose. The baffle is assembled from four metal sections that fit together using screws and wingnuts. The baffle base that attaches to your pole has three different sets of holes on each side so you can choose the closest set on each side of your pole. It also has a center hole so you can tighten a screw directly into the pole on each side. After attaching the base it is extremely secure. Then the assembled baffle just sits on top. I am excited about this baffle because it is metal and should last several seasons. The original baffle, that came with the pole, was plastic and ended up cracking during the winter. The original baffle was pretty stationary and did a great job at keeping the squirrels from getting to the feeders, so I was a bit surprised to see how much "play" is in this metal baffle. It basically sits/balances on top of the base and swings widely with any contact...including wind. I think it was made this way to be an even bigger deterrent for determined critters, but it almost seems too wobbly for my liking. My concern is that on windy days it will be moving so much that it will scare the birds away. For this reason I deducted one star. Regardless, I'm still glad I ordered this because I'm thinking metal is a better option versus plastic. Overall, I'd still order this again and I'm looking forward to seeing how well it holds up. I have no doubt it will keep the squirrels away.

Not good for modern land lots. Items instructions state to have a 6-10 ft clearance from any structure. So this only stops the squirrels from climbing up from the ground not from the top of the feeder
