  • Read this to find out how to care for your feeder and the birds, and ENJOY!!
Color: Dotted Navy Blue
The media could not be loaded. We put this just outside of the kitchen window so we get a little entertainment while doing dishes! I could watch these little hummingbirds for hours -- see video. This is an incredibly well-priced item for a work of art that is beautiful to admire, and that will mesmerize and entertain you for years. If you buy it, please understand that this is NOT a "set it and forget it" kind of thing. If you put out a hummingbird feeder, you will need to maintain it every few days for the health of the birds. Maintaining it is not hard to do -- but it is essential, and it does require a commitment. Here are some things I learned that I found helpful: 1.) This set comes with a little cleaner brush. It works great for cleaning the glass balls each time I change the nectar. You'll want to scrub all around the opening, and also where the water line for the nectar is, as this tends to grow some black mold-like stuff. If you rinse and shake it, it gets a lot of that stuff out, but don't skip a good scrub with the cleaner tool. Why do you need to do this? Because bacteria loves to grow in sugar water, esp. when it's hot in the summer. And the bacteria can harm the birds. You should plan to change the water every 3 days or so -- and more often if it's very hot outside or the balls are in the direct sun. 2.) The recipe for nectar is 1/4 to 1/3 cup of plain sugar to every cup of boiling water. My go-to recipe is to use a 1/4 cup of sugar for each cup of water. You'll need about 2 cups of nectar if you fill the balls to halfway, so multiple by this recipe by 2. Use more sugar (1/3 cup) in cold months to give the birds more energy, and less sugar (1/4 cup, with MORE water) in warm months -- esp. if there is not a water source nearby. You don't need any special ingredients, just the white sugar that you cook with, and that you probably have in your kitchen. DO NOT spend money on hummingbird feeder mix, and don't add red dye to the nectar. They like it just fine au naturale. :-) Here is a good "recipe" from Cornell Ornithology Lab: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/news/whats-the-best-recipe-for-hummingbird-nectar/ 3.) Make sure to mix the nectar in a tempered glass container or a metal container that can handle the boiling water. I first used an old peanut butter jar, but it cracked when I added the boiling water, and I had nectar all over my counter. Now I actually use my Chemex, because it is made for hot water. Also - make sure to let the nectar cool completely before filling the containers. You can store it in an airtight jar in your fridge, but only for a few days. It is best to mix the nectar fresh each time -- again, to avoid any bacterial growth. 4.) Use a small funnel to fill the balls through the small opening. if you don't have one, definitely buy one to making filling easier. I use a silicone one that folds up so it takes very little space in my drawer, like this one: https://a.co/d/dzSIgji 5.) The set comes with two kinds of flowers for the birds to drink from. One set has perches, the other does not. I prefer the perches, as it gives the birds a choice. Some birds like to drink while flying, others will sit for a long while on the perch and have a good ole time! 6.) Do not overfill the balls. You want them to be about half full, so that the nectar does not reach the edge of the opening when the ball is sitting upright. I used to fill them to the top, but then I found that the nectar will leak out if the level is higher than the opening, and this will attract a lot of bees. The bees and the birds definitely clash. Since I learned to fill them 1/2 way instead, no more bees! If you have tried to fill them only halfway and still have some bees, I found that spraying it with a mixture of distilled white vinegar and water helps to dispel the bees, and the hummingbirds aren't bothered by it at all. If you try this natural deterrent, invest in a good pump sprayer so that you can safely spray it from a distance. The bees really hate it and they will become quite active, so you do not want to be standing too close. (QUICK NOTE ABOUT LEVELS: The hummingbirds can actually reach the liquid even if the level is quite low, so don't worry that the balls are not full enough. Hummingbirds have amazingly long tongues to reach very far into the source, so they will manage just fine!) 7.) It is good to have a separate perch for the birds nearby -- maybe something with a small wire, a wire fence, a vine, or a tree with small branches/offshoots. The hummingbirds love to sit nearby to wait until the coast is clear at the feeder Others like to sit nearby -- lying in wait for the next bird so they can chase them away! They are characters. Whether you have shy birds or aggressive birds, they really appreciate a place to sit that is NOT right next to the feeder, but where the feeder is within viewing distance. Things I love about this set: - First, it is beautiful -- especially in the morning when the sun glimmers off of the glass balls. My neighbors have also commented about how nice it looks. - Second, it comes in a beautiful satin-lined gift box, well presented, causing OOs and AHHs when opened! I plan on giving this out as gifts to several people, because I love it so much. - Third, it is a highly functional design, because it has multiple feeder spots that are spaced apart and allow for lots of birds to feed on all sides. I have had 6+ birds at a time on and around this feeder! If you have watched hummingbirds for any length of time, you'll understand they are territorial creatures. Having more feeding spots is best to avoid too many conflicts -- although you will see them chase each other a lot, still. It's pretty amusing to watch! I hope you enjoy this feeder as much as I do. ... show more

  • Elegant, Eye-Catching, and Loved by Hummingbirds!
Color: 6 balls-Blue
Love the colorful blown glass. It’s definitely an upgrade from the red plastic hummingbird feeder I had before. I was concerned about how it would do in our strong valley winds, but have had no issues. Most importantly, the hummingbirds LOVE it!

  • Beautiful and functional
Color: 6 balls-Red
This is better than expected. We’ve had some heavy Oklahoma windstorms, and I checked on it to make sure it wasn’t knocking around too hard halfway through, but didn’t need to take the globes down even during the highest winds. The birds visit it frequently, even with more traditional feeders available to them on my yard. ... show more

  • Beautiful hummingbird feeder is Very High Quality and seems to be woodpecker resistant!
Color: 6 balls-Blue
The Headak Life Wind Chime Hummingbird feeder is even better than I was expecting... in fact, it's FANTASTIC! The quality is excellent and comes with easy instructions and a little info about hummingbirds. The top is metal and NOT plastic and the glass balls are securely suspended with wire cable & heavy hooks. The blown glass balls are stunningly beautiful and hold a nice amount of nectar without being too much. And so far, woodpeckers and flickers haven't been able to steal the nectar like they do with the bottle style feeders. I'm extremely happy with my purchase and highly recommend it! ... show more

  • Gorgeous, effective, and slightly wasteful
Color: Green
Absolutely gorgeous and a hot hummingbird spot!! The hummingbirds love it! The multidirectional perch spots even allowed 2 rival hummingbirds to drink at the same time for a moment. The only reason I deducted 1 start from this wonderful chime feeder is because the hummingbirds are not able to get all the nectar to the bottom. My picture shows the nectar line when hummingbirds could no longer reach. The remaining nectar had some debris and 1 to no gnats. I then tried filling the globes as full as possible thinking the red rubber flower would seal but then the liquid very very slowly dripped out. I hate to waste the nectar so this aspect was not appealing. ... show more
