These cane bolts are well built and heavy. I have them holding two large swinging gates in place and they work perfectly. They are made of quality steel/iron and powder-coated to resist rust and corrosion. I have a lot of experience with powder-coating. It's great until it fails, which it will eventually. But it last so much longer than regular paint, which dramatically prolongs the life of the thing you're trying to protect. These have been in use for a few months now and show no signs of rust or degradation. I'm very pleased with that. In a few years, when rust spots start to show, I'll clean up the cane bolts and spray with a Rustoleum or something similar. I expect these will last for decades. I wanted something that wasn't just a stick of pipe held in place by conduit straps. ...Something that would look deliberate, quality, and "historic" in nature. These fit my expectations. They are easy to use and hold my gates just as I'd hoped. I wouldn't change a thing about them if I could. I actually think they would look great inside a home to hold French doors in place and the like as well I wholeheartedly recommend these cane bolts. Just really good quality hardware that should last a very long time. Order with confidence!

These drop rods are a top quality and look great. The kit includes everything needed to mount and secure your gate(s). Many drop rods can simply be pulled up and out of the hardware, leaving you with the frustrating task of reinserting the rod through the brackets (especially if your hands are full already). This kit has the added limiting/retaining bracket for the top of the rod to prevent it coming up too high and out of the guide brackets. This also has a design that lets you lock the rod in the up position so it doesn't drag on the ground, leaving a scrape trail that will never go away.

I used to have a 12 inch cane bolt on my gate. It sat too low to use with ease. Especially me with a bad back. This taller cane bolt is a life saver. It comes with a bolt retainer that provides support in the open position. No more dragging the bolt on the ground while the gate is being opened. Sturdy build and hopefully lasts a long time.

These long cane rods are really helpful for a double garden gate I installed recently. Other cane rods I’ve used in the past are typically very short, requiring you to bend down nearly to the ground to utilize them. The height of these rods allows for easy use and are strong enough to resist much flexing. They hold up to two larger dogs occasionally jumping up onto the gate doors and serve their purpose really well.

My driveway gates had one short drop rod holding the left gate in place, relying on the latch to keep the right gate secure. Needless to say, that has not worked great - the gates creak in the wind and are no longer true. This set of heavy duty rods are great - the 36 inch height is good for my 6-foot gates and the extra bracket was an unexpected surprise - it secures the rod in the 'up' position, something I didn't know would be handy until I had it. Initially I have only replaced the current rod with the new one and added the extra bracket. Because my set up only had one rod, I only have one hole/pipe in my driveway, but in the spring, I'm going to have another one drilled and set in so that both of the gates can have the 36-inch drop rods. I'm really pleased with these. They are a bit pricey, but not compared to some other gate fixes I've researched, and the quality is there.
