I bought three of these wooden farm lights to replace some dated lighting in my house. Everything was packaged very well. There were instructions but it was pretty easy to figure out where everything went. They come with everything you need except lightbulbs. I bought 40 watt led but those seem blindingly bright so I'm going to try a lower wattage. Pros- beautiful, fairly simple to assemble, way less expensive than the next closest one I found on amazon ($120 cheaper per light.) Cons - two of the three had a different hue than the third. The one I liked best had a more natural wood tone. The other two were cooler white with perhaps a very slightly green undertone. In my case, I will put the two in the kitchen that look similar and the third in my entry way. Depending on your needs you may want to order more than you need and pick the hue you like best and return the rest. These lights would look best from higher ceilings because of how tall the actual light bulbs sit in the whole fixture. We have only 8 foot ceilings on our main floor and when we tried to lower to what looked pleasing to our eye, they were too low for tall people to pass under comfortably, so we put them back up and left only about 3 chain links attached. If you are using over an island or dining room table where people wont be walking underneath you could hang them lower for a better look. I really like the overall look and I'm very happy I bought them for $79 each! Notes about assembly. The hardest part was fishing the wires (which are clearly labeled) through the metal tube that connects the actual light fixture to the wooden top. There is also a tiny (and I mean tiny) allen wrench just loose in the packaging. I'm not sure why they don't put it with the screws. You can use this to loosen a piece in the metal tube (if needed) so that the cord flows through more easily and tighten it when you have the wire in place. I found it was easiest to twist the copper wires slightly together and then twist the exposed wires together slightly so they would travel through the tube without getting hung up. Go slowly and it should work fine. I had to use a bit of force to pull the remaining wire through once I grabbed the wires on the other side. I liked that the chain has two clips making adjusting easier. We do plan on removing excess chain and I did find that I could not get the individual links to open on my own with one set of pliers. My husband will have to do it with two sets. As far as the wood assembly it fairly straightforward: 1) unwrap all the pieces. 2) Identify which pieces have grooves to fit together. 3) look for the grooved set with the holes in the top for the wire to pass through: these are the top pieces, set aside. 4) take the remaining grooved pieces (these are the bottom of the fixture and attach one of the side wood pieces to each side. 5) When all 4 pieces are attached, slide one assembled piece into the groove of the other bottom piece and set on the floor. 6) place the assembled lighting apparatus in the middle of your wooden frame (after straightening the light sockets and attaching the metal tube) and feed the wire through the holes at the top of the wooden frame. 7) Then work your way around attaching the top wooden pieces to the wooden frame you have already assembled with the 4 remaining screws. Now you are ready to install the light which works like any other light fixture assembly. ... show more

On the positive side, I really like the materials and the appearance. Thats where it ends unfortunately. Be prepared to assemble based on a picture because the instructions, which encompass the bottom half of an 8x11 sheet of paper, are nearly useless. During assembly, I had to modify one of the wood "arms" by drilling out a screw hole which wasnt deep enough to allow the screw to fully embed. Ok, so then after assembling the wood pieces or arms, I was then faced with the inability to slide the electrical cord through metal pole that attaches to the light fixture. Wife: What a beauty! I am so happy with this chandelier-- it is bright with the four light bulbs (vs. the 2 I was working with before), stylish, and quite larger and sturdier than what I was expecting. Husband: It was standard electrical wiring. I was able to install it myself, however I do have experience doing some lighting installations around our home. You may want a second person to help you hold it while you install, especially if you're up on a ladder. Assembly with the included instructions manual was doable but not very easy to interpret. It required me to use my own judgement but it was not hard. Lightbulbs were not included-- I needed 4 chandelier/candle stick bulbs. The ceiling mount cover included was a touch too small; if it was an inch bigger, it would have easily covered the hole already in the ceiling. Chain length was adjustable-- I required at least two household tools like wrenches to bend the links. You can shorten the chain and wiring to your preference, however, note that once you cut the wire there is obviously no going back, so make sure you start out longer and then cut as you see fit. All in all, it looks great and I'm happy I only needed some basic tools to install this, like electrical wire cutters, screw drivers, and wrenches. ... show more

Purchased this light to go in our entryway for our home and it looks fantastic! The instructions are pretty simple, it only takes a couple screws to put together and its bigger than you think, which was perfect. The chain is adjustable and comes with an extension if you need it (we didnt, I had to use pliers to remove more links actually). Looks great! I had to replace a recessed light so I decided to replace the whole light box hence the sheetrock and screws around the fixture. For a normal light you wont need to do that. ... show more
