This laser is a 4.75W optical power laser module. The 15W referred to in the title and description is misleading and refers only to the electrical power consumption. The laser module does NOT produce 15W of optical output. I contacted the seller and they confirmed the 4.75W optical output. Personally, I'm very tired of vendors "playing vague" with laser module power specifications in their listings. I do not know if these errors are intentional or an oversight or a mistake, but it's time for some vendors to clean up their act and list the specifications clearly and honestly. There are other laser modules from many other vendors that do not differentiate between optical v.s. electrical power which makes the acquisition an very uncertain purchase. Feb 2022 - Update to original review - I've changed my review rating from 1 to 3 (neutral) because the seller contacted me to apologize and to try to rectify the problem. Seller also changed the description of the article to include the missing information - the basis for my original complaint. The media could not be loaded. The laser module came in a static protection bag and was already connected to the control/power board. It comes with a 3 pin wire to connect to a arduino uno/shield. Depending on your machine and setup, you may not use it or it will need modified. I ran a secondary 12v supply straight to the standard 12v connection on the laser control board. The Control board has an ON/OFF button for the laser. The laser flashes for a split second when turning on or off so be careful. If it is not connected to a PWM on the Arduino it will fire at 100% power when button is pressed. When connected it will wait for a signal to fire. Once connected to machine you must turn the power button on(laser control board) for the machine to send pwm signals. Otherwise you may think its a dead laser. I modified my Bobscnc Evolution 4 to make this work as an addon to my router. You will need to make or order your own mounting system for the laser module. ... show more

The size and design was great and I feel like it was gonna be a great purchase. However when I put in the design the system moves but the laser does not work at all.

Size: 15W Module Kit
This laser was an easy upgrade from my 5.5w 3018-pro. Simple swap out and focus adjustment and I was ready to go in 20 minutes. Works great for cutting thin wood (1/8") after 3 or 4 passes and does a great job with anodized aluminum for engraving. I was hoping that I might be able to cut aluminum with it as well but unfortunately it's not capable. Still a great upgrade. ... show more
