I’m a 115 lb weakling woman of a certain age. I can’t even begin to think of wrestling my way around my vegetable garden with a gas-powered rototiller, so I thought I’d give this lightweight, battery-powered tiller a shot. I’m no mechanical genius, but I found the minimalist instructions, quaintly translated into English, sufficient to easily assemble the device. (Hint: the bolt and Allen wrench, not mentioned in the instructions, are for attaching the shield to the motor housing.) My garden is fully planted at present, so I couldn’t give the tiller an extensive work-out. I was able to test it on the hard-packed soil of a walkway between rows. Although the little tiller bounced when it first hit the compacted dirt, it then chewed into it and churned it up nicely. I found the tiller light and easy to handle. The package includes a pair of safety glasses, a nice touch for use with a device that flings dirt around, and a pair of garden gloves, which were only slightly large on my small hands, so they are probably too small to be useful to folks with large hands. Even though the tiller worked surprisingly well on my compacted soil, I don’t think it would have the power for heavy-duty tasks like chewing through an established lawn to create a new garden bed. Also, I was disappointed that the tiller cuts a swath only about 9” wide. When autumn arrives, it’s going to take an awful lot of passes with this little machine to turn in my whole garden for the winter.

I am impressed with the power of this mini 20volt tiller! Out of the box setup is quick and easy, you'll be tilling flower beds in no time! It is light weight, small size, and easy to navigate in and around flower beds that don't have much open space, as well, it has a low noise level. Versatility and quality make this a pretty good buy!

This is definitely not high quality, heavy duty or commercial grade but for a residential non-main name brand cordless tool, it works really well & isn't crazy expensive. I appreciate that it comes with 2 batteries because it's a real power sucker and the batteries do not have a very large capacity & take a really long time to recharge. I get the sense that they are not high-quality batteries because the instructions say multiple times not to completely deplete them (that is not mentioned with any of my main name brand tools/batteries) so you need to be gentle with them. I like that the handle is adjustable and is fairly comfortable in the hands for how heavy it is. The bottom handle likes to rotate/twist while using so you have to stop & line it back up - which is annoying (I'm not sure if there is any way to tighten it). The instructions are not great - it doesn't even mention anything about the dust guard or how to install it (but pretty easy to figure out). Otherwise, it's fairly easy to put it together despite most of the directions being a poor Chinese/English translation. I don't love that it only has 1 speed, but it feels pretty powerful. It does stop if you hit anything really hard (rock, root, etc.). I like that it's fairly easy to take apart for easy storage. I appreciate that it comes with (cheap) safety glasses & gloves to get you started. Overall, it's about medium/standard quality but works pretty well - I recommend but have realistic expectations and it's not for huge jobs.

This is quite powerful for the size of the batteries. It's not going to compare to a gas powered tiller or even a ryobi 40V but for the price, it is very comparable to other brands in this size.
