I put this in an outlet on the side wall of my garage where I usually see bugs and the occasional mouse, and it started working right away. The controls are simple, just a couple of presses to get it where you want, and the light tells you which setting it’s on. I’ve been keeping it plugged in most of the time, and I’ve noticed a lot less movement along the baseboards and around the garage door.
