I love that this kit comes with six plug ins. Perfect for stretching across the house. We've been struggling with ants on our counter and we noticed that we had one plugged in on the left side of our kitchen sink and none on the right. The ants were all hanging on the right side of the sink! We conducted an experiment and put an ant near the plug in and it seemed to grow disoriented. These definitely don't create a welcome environment for ants! We have cats and they seem unbothered by the plug-ins. I don't hear any sounds personally. They glow blue which is the only way I can tell they are on. The blue light comes through the white of the plug in, not just the little black dot, so it makes for a nice night light too. I wish they were a little less obvious, looks wise. Maybe if they were black? But they aren't extremely ugly. And do look as sleek as a white plug in can look. Only issue I've had so far is sometimes not being able to plug two things in at once. Otherwise, I love the technology of these things. No clean up. No maintenance. Just a steady annoying frequency to tell the bugs to keep moving and not to make themselves at home. ... show more

    • Not Sure If It Repels Pests, But Something Changed
I purchased these ultrasonic pest repellers as an additional form of pest control between my routine exterminator treatments. I rarely have bugs in my home, but I live around a lot of trees, so I do occasionally deal with ants, spiders, roaches, and other outdoor pests finding their way inside. After plugging in the first repeller, I unexpectedly had a large cockroach appear that night and another one the following night. I then placed one in the bathroom, and a large cockroach was found dead there the next morning. I moved another one to the kitchen, and for the next two nights, I found large cockroaches in the area, all fairly close to the repeller. It was very unusual because I normally do not have this type of problem, especially with routine exterminator service. I’m not sure whether the repellers actually attracted the roaches, caused them to come out of their hiding places, possibly from behind the walls, or if the timing was simply a coincidence. However, after those four days of back-to-back “visitors,” I have not seen another cockroach. I purchased these primarily to help with fruit flies as well, but unfortunately, the fruit flies did not seem bothered by them at all. Because of that, I took off one star. I cannot say that these will work for every type of pest, and I don’t have enough experience with them yet to say exactly how effective they are. I do like the design. They are very quiet, have a small blue indicator light, and do not take up much space on the electrical outlet, so I can still use the other outlet. They are easy to plug in and leave running. For now, I am keeping them plugged in and will continue using them as an additional layer of protection between my regular exterminator treatments. I’m especially interested to see whether they help keep spiders and other pests out during the winter. Overall, I think they are worth trying, and I may purchase additional units for the other rooms in my home. ... show more

The Vogholic Ultrasonic Repeller is straightforward to set up. You just plug it into a wall outlet, and a steady blue LED light confirms it's running. The packaging claims it covers 800 to 1,200 square feet per unit, and the six-pack gives you enough for multiple rooms. It's energy efficient at only 3 to 5 watts, which is barely a blip on the power bill. But I've got a fundamental problem with this product: I genuinely can't tell if it's doing anything. There's no audible sound (obviously), just a blue light. After several weeks of use, I haven't noticed any reduction in bugs around my home. Gnats in particular seem completely unbothered by it. Based on my own observations, these units leave me doubtful about whether ultrasonic technology actually works as advertised. I expected to see fewer pests over time, but the results speak for themselves. Nothing's changed. If you're dealing with pests, you might want to consider traditional methods like traps, sealing entry points, or consulting a professional instead. These units are easy to use and cheap to run, but the lack of measurable results makes it hard to justify even the small amount of electricity they draw. ... show more
