I have a similar set of knives in a wooden block that I bought 25 years ago. While I’ve been very pleased with them, the rivets in the handles are falling out and the knives are really showing their age. This set of knives from KnifeSaga looked to be a great replacement for these old knives. The product was delivered in a nice colorful cardboard box. Each knife was individually wrapped in thin plastic foam with plastic protectors on the blade tips. I ordered the knives with white handles – in retrospect, I think I would have preferred the ones with black handles. I see that these knives are also available with stainless steel handles. The knives appear to be very well made and are very, very sharp (8.7x sharper than other knives apparently) – I need to be careful in handling these. Some were straight-bladed, some scalloped and others had serrated cutting edges. Although the handles are made from ABS, they look to be very solid and are held in place with two rivets in each knife with a steel cap at the end of each tang. These are not stainless-steel knives but are made from carbon steel which can give and keep a sharper cutting blade edge. The inclusion of 6 steak knives is a welcome addition. While the knives look great, the included kitchen shears and honing tool are rather “plasticky”. At $170, these are not cheap knives, but they seem to be made to a very high quality (apart from the shears and the honing tool). I was a bit mystified by the vendor describing these as “Japanese” knives. Apparently, they were designed in New York and made in China. Perhaps they look like Japanese knives? Correction I stated in my original review that these weren’t stainless steel knives, this is not the case. They are made using high-carbon stainless steel which, apparently, is still prone to rust if not properly dried after cleaning.

This set is a very appealing addition to my kitchen. The high carbon stainless steel blades are razor-sharp and cut through ingredients effortlessly. The set includes a great variety of knives, and the angled natural wood knife block is both stylish and functional. The built-in sharpener is a handy feature, ensuring the knives stay in top condition. My only minor issue is that some of the knives feel slightly heavier than I prefer, but overall, it’s a well-crafted and effective set that has greatly enhanced my cooking experience.

I recently got this 15-piece knife set and find it to be a solid choice for home cooks. The knives come quite sharp and the full-tang construction gives them a sturdy feel. The handles are comfortable to grip, which is helpful during longer food prep sessions. The set has an attractive appearance with a white finish on the handles that adds a modern touch to the kitchen. The chef's knife is versatile, handling most kitchen tasks well. I like to use the santoku for chopping, dicing, and mincing, but you can honestly do almost any of those tasks with a good chef's knife too. The bread knife is a must-have, though, handling crusty loaves well without squashing the soft interior. You can't use a chef's knife to cut sourdough properly no matter how sharp. The knife block is well-designed, with an angled shape that fits nicely under kitchen cabinets to save counter space. The wood is solid and heavy and has a good smooth finish to the touch. The set includes a honing rod, which they call a sharpener. It's worth noting the difference: a honing rod realigns the blade's edge, while a sharpener actually removes metal to create a new edge. This honing rod is useful for maintaining the knives between more thorough sharpenings. The included steak knives are serrated, which I prefer as they cut through meats easily and don't require frequent sharpening. For best results, I recommend hand washing and drying these knives promptly after use. They come very sharp but they won't stay that way if you use a machine dishwasher. Overall, this knife set offers a good balance of functionality and style. It covers most cutting needs in the kitchen, from the versatile chef's knife and efficient santoku to the essential bread knife and serrated steak knives. The knives look nice in the kitchen, feel well-balanced, and are comfortable to hold. I enjoy using them for my everyday cooking.

This is a beautiful, well-balanced knife set with a full tang through the handle and complete with honing steele and utility scissors in their own knife block. The carbon steel is very strong and there is a nice weight to the knives. They are somewhat bulky but in my hand which is bigger, it gives me a better grip which is essential when handling sharp cutlery such as these. There are a set of 6 steak knives, a bread slicer, Chef's knife, Santoku knife, carving knife, paring knife, and utility knife all included. These are sharp out of the box, but you can sharpen them more which i did on my Tormek wheel to get the razor edge. Hand wash these only though, as the detergents in a dish washer and small undetectable grooves in the metal surface can inhibit rust which you dont want on these. Very good quality knife set and with the various blades will take care of all kinds of preparation tasks in the kitchen for meals throughout the year.
