This was not worth the $40 I paid. It took hours to set up. I had to create an email account for my child. None of the Bluetooth devices would pair, tried five. The pair of cheap headphones finally worked. The apps and login to too long to use. The screen cracked underneath on day 3 which renders it unusable now. I’m trying to send back and I have to order another Fire tablet for my autistic child who doesn’t understand why he can’t use the tablet. Very disappointed and frustrated, can’t afford to purchase it. Buyer Beware!

I picked up this tablet to use when I travel, for something a little bit bigger than my phone screen for watching movies. This tablet streams video from services like Disney+, Hulu, Prime, and Paramount+ just fine. I had audio trouble trying to stream from Plex - no audio either from the tablet speaker or over Bluetooth. I’ve also encountered some Bluetooth instability, where the headphones just lose connection for no apparent reason, regardless of what service I’m streaming. Battery life is mediocre, I got about three hours of streaming time, either WiFi or downloaded locally. I had trouble with the microSD card slot; the spring is too strong and the latch is weak. I struggled to get a card inserted, and the card shoot out of the device and literally flew across the room while I was trying to use it. The listing for this product says it has 4 GB of memory, but it only has 2. The UI is sluggish and unresponsive, so it’s frustrating getting from boot-up to whatever app I want to run. This is a budget tablet, and it shows all around. While I was not expecting too much, the incorrect specs in the product description, the sluggish UI, the unstable Bluetooth, and card slot issues really left me cold. While I’ll try this tablet when I fly next, I’ll probably keep my eyes open for an alternative that seems more reliable.

PROS: - This mini-tablet is easy to hold with one small (adult) hand - Power and volume buttons are easy to locate and placed similarly to Samsung phones - Has a headphone jack and SD card slot - Has bluetooth - At full brightness the screen is visible in the sun. - This comes with Android 12. At the time of this review, the current version is 14, so this tablet isn't far behind and should run most apps. - Volume can get very loud at higher settings. CONS: - The speed is a bit on the slow side. There are a few milliseconds of lag after tapping an icon, and opening an app takes a few seconds. Even opening Settings takes a few seconds. - The screen feels like it has a screen protector on it (the product listing does mention that in the title), but it seems to make the screen slightly less responsive. Sometimes I have to swipe multiple times to get it to register and perform the action. It's also a fingerprint magnet. - The YouTube app comes pre-installed but doesn't work initially. You get an unhelpful error message that doesn't tell you why it doesn't work. Updating the app via Google Play made it work again. - The camera isn't very good. Pictures come out dark and low resolution. It can do selfie-mode, but that button is hidden. You have to hit the 3 dots in the bottom corner to get the menu, then tap the third icon. The camera icons are tiny and not very self-explanatory. You have to experiment to figure them out. - There's an "Adaptive Brightness" toggle that I activated, but it doesn't seem to do anything. The screen remains the same brightness regardless of if I'm in the dark or outside in the sun. - The upper half of the screen is taken up by the Google search bar and the date. There seems to be no way to remove them. I have no idea why the date needs to take up that much space. It's ridiculous. Tried replacing it with a date or clock widget, but it wouldn't let me place it in that space. Only the bottom half of the screen is customizable. - Even at its lowest audible volume (the step just above mute) the sound is kind of loud. Not ideal when you're trying to make less noise but don't have headphones. CONCLUSION: It's not bad for an entry-level tablet. I wouldn't try to play advanced games or anything on this, but it's fine for basic browsing and watching videos.
