Purchased this as an upgrade from an older laptop. Great speed and storage. Yes, the keyboard IS back lit. Press the f5 key to enable it. The F5 key has actually two light settings for the keys plus off if you want. Just keep hitting F5 to toggle. Battery life is about 3-4 hours. Mine came with the Windows 11 upgrade already. Just what I wanted. At first I was disappointed because the keyboard wasn't showing that it was backlit. After about 2 weeks my son in law figured out the F5 key turned it on. It is bright and keys are easily seen in dim light. I love the speed of the processor! I play a game that uses a lot of memory and needs speed and it is great having that. Initially, it worked fine ...until several months later. THAT's when the laptop screen began to freeze !!! Yeah, a $1K laptop screen freezing after only a few months of use (yeah, right out of the warranty period). At first, I thought it was an anomoly. But no, the screen now freezes up nearly every single time it's used!!!! And (of course), too late to return!!! NOT happy ...NOT very happy at all!!! Don't waste your money on this HP product! It's crap! Do NOT buy this laptop!! 5/12/22 UPDATE Laptop completely died. Got REAL hot - then screen went blank, keyboard still lit, laptop fan still running - but nothing, absolutely nothing.
