I picked up this 2‑ton hydraulic engine hoist for my garage, mainly for pulling engines out of project vehicles, and it’s been a great addition to my workspace. The hoist is definitely heavy (about 157 lbs), but that actually made me feel better about the quality—everything is thick steel, and nothing about it feels flimsy or underbuilt. Assembly took me a little time, but all the parts lined up well, and the instructions were clear enough. Once everything was tightened down, the frame felt sturdy and stable. The folding design is a big plus; after using it, I can collapse it and roll it into a corner without losing half my floor space. The hydraulic ram lifts smoothly, and the 4 boom positions give you flexibility depending on how far you need to reach and how much weight you're lifting. I tested it on a truck engine, and it handled it without any strain. The 6 locking caster wheels make a huge difference when maneuvering the hoist with a load on it—rolling it around the shop feels controlled and predictable. If I had to nitpick, the hoist is heavy to move before assembly, and having a second person during setup definitely helps. But once it’s put together, the wheel setup solves that problem. Overall, this is a solid, reliable hoist that does exactly what it’s supposed to. Strong lift power, smooth hydraulic action, and the folding feature is perfect for home garages or small workshops. although there were no instructions it is very easy to figure out which bolts go where based on their size. I was concerned about making sure I had enough lift height since I was removing a 5.7L from a deck boat and this thing worked perfectly. The engine leveler was key to making this a 15 minute job (of course not counting the hours to disconnect the engine from the boat). I would highly recommend this hoist and now using it as the engine stand to break everything down.

Paint was kinda beat up from lack of packaging in the box. But the price makes up for that I feel. Overall pretty easy to put together, all parts accounted for before assembly.

Wow! I would say this hoist was great at any price, but for the price I paid, just wow. I don't think I could have bought the steel (which seems first rate, by the way) locally for this price. Hydraulic jack worked right away, no bleeding or dicking around needed. Admittedly, my 1098cc engine wasn't much of a load test, but everything went off without a hitch. Load leveler got the job done, but was definitely the weak sister in this package. Very poorly crafted, even though the steel was sufficiently rugged. Lead screw may have been turned with beaver teeth? It'll get the job done.

For the price and simplicity it's easily the best bang for your buck on a budget. Not only was it able to lift a 350 and a power glide from a 95 Camaro, it lifted the entire front end with ease!
