Good engine hoist for the price very cheap hardware, no instructions but easy to figure out, but if you want a more reliable lift get better hardware for it other than that it seems good for your average driveway mechanic

Easy to assemble. First job was to get a Northstar Cadillac Engine and a 2008 DTS Transmission, out of the back of my Dodge Ram 1500, by myself, at 66 years old. As a teen, I've worked used many cherry pickers ( hoists ) that were not the most reliable, and were prone to tipping. Many had weights added to the rear for added stability. I grabbed the transmission first, knowing it was heavy and awkward too. Not like the transmissions of the 50's - 70's... I used to pull them and walk away with them. Not this one. Then came the engine. That balance transfer item work fantastic. Well Built for me. Not afraid to use it by myself again. Although I was outside my own garage, on concrete, it probably has a 4" slope or drop for runoff. I am glad I purchased this hoist, from this seller!

I ordered an engine hoist that was listed as having 33" wide legs. They sent the one with the 40" wide legs. It was important that I needed the 33" wide legs as it works for what I'm using the lift for. The problem is, that I didn'y know what the width of the leags are until I assembled the lift. Now in order for me to send it back I'd have to take the thing apart and pack all the very heay componants back into the boxes. Before I go through the hassle of repacking the components, I wanted to make sure the lift actaully has the 33" wide legs available. After cintacting Amazon to check, they couldn't give me a staright answer. I can still use the 40" wide lift, but with a bit of trouble. Bottom line, I decided to live with the wrong item because I don't want to go through the big hassle to send it back with the uncertainty of actualy geting the one I want. Otherwise it's a great quality lift and works well.

CHEAP! I expected cheap, but this piece of equipment is comically cheap. More specifically the casters and hardware to assemble. Lots of the nuts/bolts actually stripped just from me hand tightening without even usually a wrench. The metal pieces seem good. But all of the casters and hardware is junk!

I have a mixed view on this, overall I’m very happy with it. The cons: The box came in destroyed and you can tell that the packaging was insufficient. The instructions were horrible. The casters aren’t the best quality but they work. Pros: It was a great price and the quality of the steel is pretty good. It does the job and was reasonably well built. Overall- it’s low end Harbor Freight quality for a fraction of the cost

This costs almost 1/2 the price of an equivalent Harbor Freight Product; it sounded almost too good to be true. The good news is it went together fairly smoothly, and it appears to be functional. Some issues were that two bolts (#15 M16x110mm and#16 M14x110mm) were mislabeled, which caused delays. I posted some other comments in the pictures for smoother assembly. The only big issue is one Lock Pin 16x90mm did not have a hole drilled in it for the cotter pin. I contacted Garvee requesting a replacement part. The welds, finish and parts appear to be at least Harbor Freight quality. I will follow up if I ever receive the replacement pin. 4/22/2026 Garvee responded to my inquiry regarding the replacement part. In lieu of sending a new part, Garvee sent a $15 Amazon gift credit. The customer service is great, therefore 5 stars.
