For reference, I received the gold and white variant. The quality of this toaster impressed me. The appearance is what caught my eye first. I'm a sucker for the retro style, and this toaster manages to have a retro appearance while having a modern color palette. It has blended in well with my kitchen. It is an average-sized appliance and has two slots that comfortably fit food items such as toast and waffles without any issue. The temperature knob is easy to adjust with text that is easy to read. My favorite feature is that the toaster comes with a reheat option. I use the toaster most often during breakfast, as this is where I prepare things like toast or waffles. I like to multitask, but this runs the risk of having my toast go cold while the eggs are cooking. Before, I relied on a toaster that did not have the reheat option, so whenever I put the toast down for another run through a heat cycle, I risked burning the toast. With this toaster, though, if the toast has been sitting for too long and has cooled down, I simply put it in for a reheat round. It comes with 7 heat settings. I prefer toast that is lightly toasted, but when I tried out the other heating settings, the temperatures flowed as expected. For example, when toasting bread on setting two and then toasting another slice on setting three, it did not feel like the heat jumped drastically. Instead, the temperature increase felt appropriate. Not to mention, it's fast. I didn't realize how slow my old toaster was until I used this one. During the first few uses, I actually thought I forgot to put the toast down, as when I found the bread popped up, I didn't anticipate that there was any way the toaster could have worked that fast. Plus, it's very quiet. It doesn't give me a jump scare every time the bread is ready. The toaster itself feels durable and sturdy. My only complaint is that I wish the base were weighted a bit more. Sometimes, when I push on the drop lever too hard, it makes the back of the toaster jump up. But this is a minor complaint as the toaster works very well. Overall, this toaster has exceeded my expectations. It has a sleek appearance, doesn't take up much space on the counter, offers several temperature settings along with a reheat function, and reliably heats my food in a short time. I have been wanting to replace my old ugly toaster for a while now and I was so excited when I saw this toaster. It is so cute. The retro style and cream color is absolutely perfect. It works great too! I prefer having a 2 slice toaster like this since it's more compact and takes up less space on my counter. It's simple to use, the dial easily adjusts to set browning. So far we've been happy with it set to 2 and it works very quickly. Quality product, reasonably priced. Zero complaints about this toaster, it's adorable and seeing it in my kitchen makes me smile. This is one of the best toasters that I've used in years! This toasts evenly and the defrost button works perfectly. We eat a lot of bread that comes frozen and is kept in the freezer until use. Just set the knob to the desired level, push the lever down and press the defrost button. It's come out perfect every time. It pops up strongly. Just be aware, if you are only toasting one slice it may pop out of the toaster depending on how light your bread is. The only negative that I can think of is that at first glance the knobs look a bit flimsy but as I use it they seem like they are plenty strong enough. I can deal with the "retro style" for a toaster that actually works, unlike some of the name brand toasters we've recently used. ... show more

I swear every toaster I’ve owned before this had a “burn one side, ignore the other” personality. I’ve been actively looking for something that actually toasts evenly, and so far… this one is doing the job. Well worth the price for sure. I use it almost every morning, and my toast is coming out the same color on both sides (which feels like a small miracle). It handles thicker bread and bagels easily, and I like being able to dial in exactly how toasted I want things without guessing. On top of that, it’s really cute. It’s easy to clean, doesn’t slide around, and just works the way a toaster should. The media could not be loaded. I can't believe I am calling a Toaster "cute" but YES. YES I AM. This toaster is ADORBS! So perfect of course for a Mid Century Modern house, but anyone who appreciates a Retro look will love this. I absolutely love the white and gold coloring. But how does it work? Well, watch my video and see. I tried it on the very highest setting and it made it a dark brown without burning it which I think is perfect. It took about 3 minutes to finish the longest, darkest setting. I am not sure how selecting "Bagel" or "Defrost" changes what takes place, but since those choices are there I assume there is a change in the temperature because the width of the wire baskets closing does not change. I really like that you just press "Cancel" anytime you want to stop the toaster, and honestly I love that this is not over engineered. It is a TOASTER. It does not need to be Wifi enabled, speak to me, or have 52 settings. The more crap something has the more crap available to break in my opinion. This has great, simple, straightforward controls. And I looovvvveeee that the toast "jumps" out of the toaster when it is done! *Squeeee!* So cute! ... show more

The matte finish of this toaster is really pretty. The dials are also attractive. The Quaxwell brand name printed on one side is unfortunate. If you aren’t lucky enough to have that side of the toaster look right facing a wall, you can cover it with a magnet or something. This toasts evenly in a decent amount of time. The toast also pops up higher when finished than any other toaster I’ve owned. :) ... show more
