These weights are great. You can fill them up with water for lat pull downs or biceps. The best part is when I finish my workout I just empty them. The styrofoam ones collected water and leaked everywhere.

I couldn’t feel much resistance after filling these and using them in my community pool. They have decent handles and easy to fill and easy twist on and off cap.. But without it resistance I can’t use these. Way too light. Having used styrofoam weights in a pool I can not compare these to the styrofoam which offers much more resistance. For someone doing physical therapy/an older person there could probably work well.

I’ve been exercising with foam water weights in the pool for years, so I decided to try these actual water weights: so named because all the weight comes from the water you put in them (that is unless you decide to fill them with sand). I first tried them empty, then full of water, then partially full of water. I haven’t yet tried them with sand. Empty, they gave me the most resistance in the water, though still less resistance than my old foam water weights. Be careful using them fully filled in the pool, as they are likely to sink. But when full they are very useful for exercising out of the water, and would be good for traveling because they weigh next to nothing when empty, and can be filled for use at your destination. Partially filled, they provide less resistance in the water but they do float, so you won’t have to dive to retrieve them. Poolside, they have another advantage over foam water weights: the octagonal shape of the dumbbells means they won’t roll around or blow away in the wind. In short, they turn out to be good all-purpose weights in or out of the water. If they came in a larger size, I would buy those, too. It’s a plus that they’re also quite pretty. They are a good addition to my assortment of pool exercise gear, but not a substitute for the equipment I already had as their function is somewhat different. I’ll be using them regularly, in and out of the pool.

The weights are virtually weightless unfilled making them a good tool to use both in and out of water at different levels of filling and using different material. With water, they worked well and super easy to fill and empty which was great. With sand they're heavier and provide great resistance although I personally wouldn't use them with sand in the pool just in case. I love that depending on the exercise and need I can tailor the resistance and weight from in or out of the water and filled or unfilled with different materials. The pretty blue color is vibrant and the shape also feels nice.

If you don’t fill them completely with water they will float. I’d say they’re about 5lbs each. Basically just a water jug. I think I would prefer a foam water weight personally. These will work but they are hard plastic.

I recently started using these water dumbbells for pool workouts, and I’m really impressed! They’re so easy to fill with water, and I love that they don’t leak at all. The grip is comfortable, and they’re the perfect size for water resistance exercises. Each dumbbell weighs about 3 lbs when filled, which provides a great level of resistance in the water without being too heavy. I have only used them a few times in the pool but so far I like them. I could see someone even using them outside the pool but I haven't tried that yet. Overall, I’m thrilled with how well they work in the pool and highly recommend them!

Last year I had those foam weights that by the end of the summer had started to have splits and pieces start to fall off so we threw them out. These are really high quality weights and they function a lot better than the old ones. They’re easier to hold so therefore I’m doing my exercises with proper form. The other ones almost made it impossible to do correctly. The blue material they’re made of seems so durable so these seem a better value because they won’t be thrown out at the end of the season. And I’m working out every morning with them and just started to notice a difference. Highly recommend!!

I prefer these PE Dumbbells to the foam dumbbells as those just don't hold up well. These are aesthetically pleasing and work well. I like that they can be filled with water or sand depending on whether the user wants a lighter weight work out or more advanced strength training. These are great to have outside to work out with and not just in the pool. The end caps screw on very nicely, have a tight secure seal and there is a small carrying handle. The non slip grip is actually a bit too large for my small hands, but still doable. Something to keep in mind is that if they are not completely filled up with water or sand, the weight will not be consistently distributed evenly in these dumbbells as they are moved around. As long as they are not dropped or left out in the sun constantly and become brittle, they should last for quite some time. Also, the item description states the color is red, but they are actually hot pink or fuchsia in color.
