It's Handy to have one of these units in that many holiday lights use 2 prong connectors. In older homes, that outlet only used during the holidays is 2 prong and this eliminates the need for an adaptor while giving you added outlets, both 2 and 3 prong.

    • Handy for travel, doesn't protect from power surge
I bought this about a year ago and there are things I like and don't like. Pros: Small and easy to travel with. Plenty of outlets and USB ports. Cons: Tilts away from the wall like it's going to fall out when things are plugged into it. I've tried different angles and it simply isn't firmly attached to the wall socket. Also, I had this on a trip to Greece, plugged into a European adapter into a wall socket. It was an older hotel and at one point there was a power surge that tripped a circuit breaker in the room. Luckily my CPAP machine comes with a surge protector. However, the surge blew out the USB ports, now none of them work. Luckily I didn't have anything plugged into them at the time. In the future I'll probably just travel with a surge protected power strip that plugs into a foreign adapter as needed. ... show more

I live in a very old home and although the electrical was updated there are not enough outlets and not in the best location. This outlet extender is so helpful and allows me to make the best use of the outlets I have available.
