I was really surprised by how much this works! My hairbrushes get disgusting. I have really long hair AND I have a cat. My hair brushes constantly get dirty with a mix of hair, dust, and cat hair that somehow ends up on my head. First thing I did was use the little rake tool. I used it to pull all the hair out, starting from the sides and then middle. After 99.9% of the hair was gone, I brushed real hard with the black brush that comes with it, with the bristles. That removed most of the dust and whatever hair was left. Lastly, I used an old toothbrush and antibacterial soap to wash the brush. It’s just like new!!! ... show more

These really work! Our brushes look like new. I was able to get all of the fuzz out of the brushes. There are no directions. Trial and error showed me that you should use the large black brush first. Don't remove hair by hand. Let the brush do it and it will pull all the fuzz out too. If there are any stragglers you can continue to brush with the large black brush or use the small one. ... show more

I included a before/after set of pics to show how amazing this thing works! I use dry shampoo that can build up on my brushes and my hair is long, so a lot of cruft can build up. This little kit takes care of all of that and makes them look almost new! Plus it's very satisfying to see all the fuzzies come out of the brush lol ... show more

With a little elbow grease and these tools you can revive a hairbrush that was heading to the trash. I have cats. Five cats - thus everything in the house has cat hair. It doesn't help that one of my guys likes to brush her face on MY hairbrush. Her hair, my hair, and random dust made me think the brush was doomed. I had tried to wash it, use a comb to pick out the gunk - no dice. This product was relatively inexpensive and although it came with no instructions, I figured it out. After about a half hour of brushing, picking, washing with shampoo, and then super picking at stubborn pieces with tweezers, my brush looks fantastic. I usually clean my brush with a comb. It takes quite a long time. I’m epileptic so I can’t shower and wash my hair often, when I brush out my hair I lose a lot. I expected this to “kind of” work better than my comb. It blew my expectations out of the water. The pink one is great for a travel size brush, it is much smaller than I anticipated. Usually I would take off a star for that, but the black one is so great it makes up for it! The black one doesn’t look like it would do much from the picture or in person, but holy cow... I even ran it through my “clean” brushes and it pulled out so much hair I was shocked! I thought they were hair free. At least my eyes couldn’t see any hair and my comb couldn’t grab any. The two options, one on each side, gives you great versatility. The pink one can go through a standard size brush and it does pull out hair. It would just work better I feel on a travel size brush. I would repurchase this in a heartbeat and now my combs are actually used IN MY HAIR, not in my brushes! ... show more

I had an old boar's bristle brush and had lots of trouble cleaning it. The brush cleaning tool did a great job of cleaning up and resurrecting my old brush. The other item in the package was a comb cleaning tool. I was skeptical. It looks tool fragile, and maybe it will be over time, but it's not terrible expensive. When I use the pink rake it feels fragile, but hasn't fallen apart yet. They both do their job well- I have very long, thick, strong hair and it takes it out easy on my circular brush (I brush down on one side of it, then take my hand and twist off as much as I can and repeat. A normal flat brush will be much easier to clean), and I use the black brush to get out smaller particles like dust or dandruff. This seems to be about the most you need to spend to get something that does everything you need to get a clean hair brush. ... show more

My hair brushes were gross, I needed something to clean them. Works pretty well. You just have to be patient and keep at it. I would use the small pink wire one in the beginning. Once all of the hair was out, then I switched to the black brush. Note: My before picture was when I started cleaning it. My apologies, it's so gross looking! ... show more
