I have a high end up cut router bit that I use when making mortise and tenons in hardwood but I really don’t like using it on more abrasive wood like plywood and particle boards. I felt this this ¼” shank up cut router bit would be the perfect alternative (see photo for side-by-side comparison of the two bits). For those who may not be familiar with the up cut router bit design, it pulls chips up and out of the work and are great for mortise, grooving, slotting, or routing deep blind holes. I measured the diameter of the cutting surface at 0.247” (the exact same measurement as on my high end bit). After making a slot I measured the slot width at exactly 0.250”. Perfect. The bit also comes in a nice holder and the size is clearly marked on the shank.
