This digital thermostat replaced my "analog type" thermostat. My (previous) "analog type" thermostat had an internal metal coil which I found to be very inaccurate. I find this digital thermostat to be much more accurate. Its measurement and display of the current temperature is more accurate. The temperature (when my furnace turns on and off) is more accurate. - - - - This digital thermostat has a CALIBRATION feature allowing me to displace the current room temperature up/down (a maximum of) four degrees. I had to adjust the "current room temperature" display, down four degrees. Meaning; Without this CALIBRATION adjustment, this digital thermostat showed 74 degrees when my room was actually 70 degrees. See page eight of the "Operation Manual - 701" > CALIBRATION Setting. This "CALIBRATION Setting" is very useful. - - - - Operation Note: This thermostat's digital display has very helpful backlighting. The first time you press the Up or Down button, the backlighting turns on. Then press the Up or Down button (again) to make temperature (or other) adjustments. After about ten seconds (of no usage), the backlighting will automatically turn off. - - - - Note: I only use this thermostat for heat (on/off). Not for fan control. Not for cooling. I have a 2022, single stage furnace (used for heat only). My 2022 furnace has a (contemporary) digital controller/display. ... show more

Excellent product; easy to use; great visibility; simple. We are getting too carried away with technology nowadays. I am not sure who buys those ultimate, programmable thermostats that are becoming ubiquitous. Not being able to foresee the future and know what the weather will be next Thursday evening, I kind of like the ability to easily change the settings on my thermostat, without difficulty and quickly. I can adjust the setting and change from heat to AC in about 2 seconds, max, with this product. With the confusing and complicated programmable thermostats (read expensive) on the market, it takes close to a minute and then you find hours later that you missed a step in the algorithm and need to go back and reprogram it again. Another positive in favor of this product is the clear visibility of the screen. The combination of black numbers on a very light grey screen, is great for those of us with less than perfect vision. The backlit screen lights up as soon as you touch the buttons. I have three of these thermostats and each of them took no more than 20 minutes to install. You will need a tiny screwdriver and probably a pair of small needle nosed pliers. ... show more

Very nice and inexpensive upgrade from the mechanical one that come with our camper. Be sure to take pictures of the wires before you cut anything! Also very important to ensure if you need to remove the jumper between RH and RC...I did not and it controls our furnace and AC perfectly. Btw furnace is a Suburban and ac is Coleman Mach. Have not done the switch mod to have high and low for the AC fan and probably will not because we have a fairly large camper and family runs hot. Recommend for rv owners. ... show more

So this is the second thermostat we tried. The first was a Coleman and it did not work on just our two wire 12V heat only system. I just pulled the jumper and ran the red lead to RH/R and white lead to W on this thermostat and it works great.

I bought this because our house had a really old Honeywell that FORCED you to set the date and time (???) And ALSO set 4 separate programs with time, heat/cool, and temperature before it would actually turn on the AC. I got fed up with the programming thing since I usually turn it on manually anyway and bought this one. The instructions were intimidating so I put it off for months to install it. Well the old one decided to stop working again and I was melting because of the heatwave and just figured what's the worst that can happen. It couldn't be easier. I just figured I'd look at the configuration of the current one and try to map it out. Everything is labeled. Y for yellow. G for green etc. It took me 5 minutes. Didn't need the instructions. Installed it and put the batteries in and viola. Works. No programming. Just.. turn it on. So simple, and now my house is cool. Best feature is the back light. The old one didn't have that and I didn't know how much I needed that. Bit of a long review for a thermostat but if you want something simple and manual without being forced to program times, this one is great. I'd recommend it for sure ... show more
