These buckets were exactly what I was looking for for honey season this year! The biggest advantage is that they come ready to go with a pre-drilled hole, honey gate, and lid included. That may sound simple, but after getting a bucket last year...it didn't come with a lid, so that alone...and it saves a lot of time! Eliminates the guesswork of drilling your own hole and hoping everything lines up correctly. The honey gates installed easily and fit snugly without any issues. The pre-drilled openings were the correct size, so there was no need for modifications, enlarging holes, etc. The buckets themselves feel sturdy and well-made, and I appreciate that lids are included. If you've ever accidentally ordered food-grade buckets without lids, you know how frustrating that can be when you're trying to store honey between extraction and bottling. Last season I was constantly rotating buckets, emptying one while filling another...and decided I needed additional capacity this year. These were an easy solution! Everything arrived as expected, assembled quickly, and appears ready for many seasons of use!! I may have to get more! For beekeepers who value convenience, these are worth considering. Sometimes it's nice not to have to source separate parts, drill holes, and assemble everything yourself. These take a lot of the hassle out of the setup process...honey season is busy enough already!

Sorry bad pic - two decent soft but durable honey buckets. Overall they work just fine, but I would go with one of the other brands that feel a little thicker for the same price. Buckets don't leak, feature a handle and twist on lid. Come with two honey gates so buckets are ready to go.

These are some very nice quality honey buckets with gates. The gates do not come preinstalled but aren't too difficult to install. The bucket is obviously curved on the sides, but the gates are flat. When installing and tightening them down, the side of the bucket will flatten out to match the seal on the gate. There is enough give in the plastic to get a good seal. Instead of turning the nut to tighten, I did a snug fit on the nut, then turned the gate and held the nut with my fingers to tighten it down. I didn't need to use any tools, although you may want to use a tool if you don't have enough hand strength, or if it leaks. Note that you'll have to tighten the one phillips screw/bolt/nut on the hinge portion of the gate. Don't over tighten it, though. You'll use the thumbscrew to complete the seal on the gate and to hold it closed. It comes with the seal at the base and on the gate door already installed.

This 2 pack of 5 gallon food grade buckets with honey gates is just what it is supposed to be. Its 2 five gallon buckets with lids and 2 honey gates.the hole is already drilled, you just have to put the honey gate through the bucket hole and screw the nut on. It seems pretty comparably priced to other buckets with honey gates, but it is rather pricey compared to buying buckets and honey gates separately and DIYing it. If you do not want to drill a bucket hole yourself then these are the answer. The buckets seem nice quality, not super thin or brittle, and the gaskets on the honey gates seem to seal good. These will do great for me in a couple weeks once Im spinning honey.
