I am leaving a 3 star review as I am totally ambivalent on this product. It may work well for non-demanding applications, but I cannot see any viable application. I burnt one rod that was supplied and was totally disappointed with the results. It may be great for hobby applications, but I have no use for it. I was looking for something light to get into tight areas to do tack welds to hold plates in place. I then planned to employ my conventional welder to actually do the job. A standard 15A household outlet puts out about 1,800 watts. A welding arc runs at around 20 volts. Divide 1,800 by 20 and you get 90 amps of welding output, before losses. That's the physics ceiling on a normal garage outlet, regardless of what the label says. To actually produce 250A at the arc you'd need roughly 5,000 watts of output and 6,000 watts from the wall — which means 50 amps of input at 110V. That's a dedicated heavy circuit, not a standard outlet. The manufacturer lists 4.6 kW input power in the specs. At 110V that's a 42-amp draw. So either that number is also inflated, or this thing needs a 40-amp circuit, at which point you'd want 240V anyway. The 250A figure is probably a peak reading taken at a momentary spike, not a sustained welding output. On some cheap inverter welders the display just echoes the knob setting rather than measuring actual output current. For what it actually is — a light-duty 110V flux core and stick machine — it's fine. Thin steel, tack welds, short runs, 3/32" rod. Good for outdoor repair work because flux core doesn't need shielding gas. The 2-year replacement warranty is a genuine plus for a no-name brand. If you can get it. Don't expect to run long beads on thick material. The duty cycle or the breaker will stop you before the work does. ... show more

    • Versatile Welder That’s Comfortable to Use

This welder has been better than I expected. One thing I really like is that it gives you more than one way to use it. Some others only give you a single option, so I like being able to use both MIG and flux core wire depending on the job. That flexibility makes it feel more useful than a lot of smaller welders. It is also surprisingly capable and has handled thicker metal better than I expected for a machine in this class. I also like the actual size, since it feels comfortable enough to use for a while without becoming a hassle. What makes it stand out to me is that it does not feel limited to very light work only.
