This one seemed completely straightforward and pretty fast and I thought it would work really well for a beginner like me and it does! I was very impressed with how easily and accurately this file guide was to use. It does 2 jobs at once, sharpens the cutter tooth, and files the raker down at the same time. And does that chain ever throw chips once it is sharpened! Can't wait to use it again!

I can’t imagine that the name brand functions any better than this. The sharpener is not 100% intuitive to use and comes with no instructions at all, but after watching a YouTube video, it seems obvious. In fact, there are even markings on the tool itself that show you the orientation that it should be used. The arrow should be pointing away from you, and there is an image of a chainsaw on the plastic that tells you which way the chainsaw should be sitting in front of you. This image of the saw honestly looks like a weird blob until you realize what it is. Then you can’t unsee it. There are also marks on the smooth metal guides that you should use to keep the file on the correct angle with the chain bar. After accidentally ordering the wrong size file my first go around and ruining a chain, the correct size almost did not feel right but did sharpen nicely. Unfortunately, the files have no marking on them indicating which size they are. I marked mine with a sharpie so that I know which one is which, but silly that I need to do that. My only issue with it’s functionality is that the chain does not seem to stay sharp as long after sharpening as is did right out of the box. I think it might take a bit of practice. I gave each blade 4 swipes, and I am wondering if I made it TOO sharp, so it did not hold its edge as well. The file seems built solidly and will probably last a long time. Definitely worth a try for the price. If it came with any instructions at all, it would probably be a 5 star product.

Exactly like the Stihl, good for homeowner use. If I did cutting commercially I probably would just got with Stihl OEM. It is very fast and easy to use.
