Please ignore the negative reviews. The reviewers were not following directions. First, this is NOT a Chamberlain OEM remote. It is a compatible remote. Therefore you cannot program it in the same way you program the 953EV. That is why there is no programming button on the back. The included instructions are clear and accurate. You just need to read and follow them. The process is very easy. Second, the "button on the back" in the instructions refers to the garage door opener, not the remote control. Finally, one thing that is not mentioned in the instructions is that you need to program your remotes with the garage door closed. Do not start with it open. This is also true of OEM Chamberlain remotes, so please don't blame the remote manufacturer. Read the included instructions carefully. When you are programming the remote itself, all you are really doing is telling the remote which model of garage door opener that button will open. This part is very simple and works as described. Once the button is "programmed" you still need to pair the remote to your garage door opener. This process is identical for any remote. Press the button on the back of the garage door opener itself. This will turn on a small LED light on the opener near the button. Then, within 30 seconds, press and hold the button (the one you programmed in the previous step) on the new remote until the garage door opener light blinks. That's it. You're done. I have two garage doors. One has one of the new myQ "yellow-button" Chamberlain models, and the other has an older Chamberlain model with the purple button. By programming one button for the "yellow" model, and the other for the "purple" model, I now have a pair of remotes which can open both garage doors.

At this low price point, I was hopeful, but apprehensive. Some reviewers seem to have had difficulty setting them up, and the instructions seem like it is rather long process, but it really isn't. Read the directions, do each step, and suddenly I have two new controllers for the garage doors. There are three buttons, but we only have two garage doors, so that is all I have tested. Our doors have the purple learn button. The first setup took awhile, but I discovered that it is simple, so the second door took longer to climb the ladder getting up to the opener than it did to set up the remote.

I have 1 Genie and 2 Chamberlain garage doors openers. Within minutes, I was able to program the remote to open them. When programming, be aware that the red LED is mounted deep in the viewing hole. You will not be able to see it if viewing at an angle. Range was good, I opened a door at 50 yards. It uses the same battery(CR2032) as our key FOBs, no need for us to stock a different battery. Will most likely purchase more of these in the future.

Ok so i literally had to do this at least 20 times until I went with my gut. So my learn button is red, but my signal wire is purple; also before starting anything unplug the garage door opener wait one minute and plug it back in. I tried the red button instructions-nothing. I followed the purple button instructions and it worked ( signal wire is purple) also I have a Chamberlain unit. I hope this helps!

Remotes paired up easily and when I tested them while still in the garage, both remotes worked just fine. However, the next day when I opened the garage door and drove out the remote failed to close the door. It still didn't work even after I backed all the way up to the door. The remote also didn't work when I returned and tried to open the garage. My wife also reported the same issue with the second remote. But the remotes work while in the garage, so it is the extremely limited range that makes them useless.

I worked on this remote for at least thirty minutes and could not get it to synch. My intention was to return it but Amazon only allowed me to take it to Kohl's. Parking was a nightmare, and when I went in the store, I was told I had to take it to the very far back corner to return it. I gave up, called Amazon, and was told they would refund my money without returning it. That gave me extra time to experiment. Virtually every other remote for my Chamberlain garage door opener that I have ever programmed has a programming button. On this you have topress and hold two buttons and then press the button you want toprogram the number of times corresponding to the color of you opener's Learn button. Once you have done all that, if you're quick enough, you're ready to syncrhonize this remote like you would any opener remote. It does work. Eventually.

It took a little bit to program. You have to first get the remotes in the correct mode and then your garage opener in the same mode. It took about 20 minutes to figure that out but it connected well and its nice having a garage door opener again! Both remotes work well!
