This safe is a good value for the size, level of security, hefty weight, and features. However, the door needs realignment with a hex wrench which we don't have. So, one must lift the door a bit when opening the safe. Also it was challenging to set the code. After accumulating a couple of smaller water/fire proof safes with keys I decided to upgrade to something larger with a keypad combo instead. With the smaller key only safes I was always worrying I would lose the keys and trying to remember where I hid the keys, which was frustrating and not good if I eventually totally forget where I put them! Though, this model also comes with a set of emergency keys, so I still partially have that problem but at least I don't have to try to remember where the keys are every time I want to open it. This safe was easy to set up and I like the larger capacity with the removable shelf. Seems durable and will last a long time. I live with a nosey Rosie. So to keep them going through certain documents I lock them up. I love that the shelf inside is removable and it's really light weight. It's smaller than my microwave but it holds my notebooks if needed.

    • Definitely not fireproof
Don't be mislead this thing isn't fireproof. Not by a long shot, it's a single metal wall but the door is legit although it has some plastic pieces. It's got 4 holes in it as well, so obviously the holes not use would allow a fire to gain access. It would essentially become an oven in the event of a fire assuming it didn't take structure damage. It is super lightweight as well, another indication it isn't fireproof as the misleading information would want you to believe. That being said it's a great size for a home safe. If security is your reason for a safe and not necessary for fireproof then it's a decent one for the price. If the manufacturer can show me a fireproof rating and whatnot then I'll update my review. ... show more

Does what it is supposed to do, easy code setting, small light inside has just enough to see what your getting, nice sturdy build ,good looking finish. Does have a removable shelf but no way to change the height, the only downside.
