I bought several of these adapters to use with my Ryobi tool batteries so I could power 12-volt LED light bulbs during power outages. Most people don't realize that 12-volt LED light bulbs usually work within a voltage range of 10 to 30 volts. This is important because this 18 volt "adapter" is only about $9.00 whereas a "converter" that converts Ryobi 18-volt batteries down to 12 volts is about $20.00. In other words, you can save $10.00 by buying the "adapter" rather than the "converter." This adapter may not work with radios, fans, pumps, or other "12 volt" electronics, so be sure to check the voltage requirements of those things if you plan on using the adapter with those electronics. To build this light fixture I bought a $3.00 light base at Lowes and a 12 volt light bulb. Total cost was about $10.00 for the base and the light bulb, plus $9.00 for the adapter. Now for about $19.00 I have a 60 watt equivalent (800 lumens) emergency light fixture that I can use in power outages. And I can use smaller or larger bulbs if necessary. A 4 Amp Ryobi battery will last a long time with a low wattage LED bulb. Check out the picture if you are interested in doing this yourself.

This product is designed to allow you to use a Ryobi 18.0vDC for various portable uses where about 18v is needed. If you need some other voltage you can use a buck converter. As shown in the picture, this comes with three screws and drywall anchors. I don't know how you'd use these, as I really don't think it'd be a good idea to drill holes in the battery. It comes with 3 automotive-style 30A fuses, which seems to me to be quite high.

Works very well, but the fit leaves a bit to be desired. The genuine Ryobi batteries fit a little bit better than the generic ones, but I have to really force them in to get them to snap into place. Once in place, it performs flawlessly and is exactly what I needed.

If you've bought into the Ryobi platform, these are awesome! We have probably 20+ different Ryobi devices, and about 8+ batteries, so being able to use the batteries to power other things is a god-send. These are high quality battery holders, and the added switch is great to allow you to quickly turn off whatever you're powering with them. The Ryobi batteries fit perfectly into these holders, making powering other devices really quick and easy. I used one of these to power a wireless Bluetooth amplifier for some outdoor Bose speakers. The Ryobi batteries provide ample power for many hours of listening pleasure.
