I use this to cut 4 inch pvc pipe for radon mitigation installations. It works great. I like it better than the two handed saws because I am often cutting pipe on ladders and in attics, where I need the other hand to balance or hold the pipe.

I bought this for various home projects, like having to cutout metal outlet boxes and through 2x4 studs. Whether cutting through metal or wood this thing has cut through it like a warm knife through butter, when using the right blade type of course. I've had some tight spaces to work in so the smaller form factor of this saw is a huge plus. Really great tool and for the price($86.95 at the time) of it and 2 18v batteries($26 ea.) This guy is the best for an at-home tool collection. Lightweight, strong and easy to swap blades. The battery does die quicker than the drills but that should be expected.

    • Great Tool and Useful for many things
Purchased for crafting and prop building projects, but have found a million different handy uses for it around the house and yard. Great for tree trimming and hedging and arboring. Cuts PVC pipe well. Seems just as powerful as the Normal Ryobi two handed recip saw, but can be wielded with one hand which is awesome. Recharges and uses same batteries as all other Ryobi Tools.     • Wow, why aren't all reciprocating saws one-handed?
I finally had a nice day to head into the back yard and start chopping up some fallen branches into lengths that will fit in my fire pit. This tool is amazing, worked great on branches down to a size where I could snap them with my hands, and all the way up to a pressure-treated 4x4 fence post. Over 3-4 hours I went through two 4ah batteries. The balance is outstanding, and I felt fully in control of the tool at all times. I routinely took advantage of being able to set it down on the battery (blade in the air) and it never once fell over. I probably had more fatigue from steadying the vibrating work pieces than I did from lifting and controlling the tool. As a home improvement hobbyist, I really can't imagine ever going back to a "regular" two-handed reciprocating saw, this is perfect. ... show more
