  • Replacement for old one.
After about 30 years, my old wier stripper went bad. I chose this one because it does NOT have a lot of other functions. I have seperate tools for crimping and all the other stuff. The tool is easy to use, strips the most important wire sizes, has sharp blases, and I trust Klien Tools. Get this one.

  • Tried and True
This is really all you need for stripping wire. I have had multiple styles in my many years in the electrical and controls field and this style is what I always come back to. One of the best features to me is the lack of a locking tab to keep them closed, since those soon need adjustment to prevent accidental engagement. I wear Maxiflex size XL gloves, so this is a smaller tool to use compared to the other styles. Since it is shorter it reduces the leverage away from your wrists, which seems minor but is noticeable to me. I have many apprentices come in with the normal big curved handle Klein's or similar, or the gimmicky Milwaukee needle nose combo strippers, and I see them awkwardly work. I loan them my extra pair, and 3 out of 4 of them purchase this type afterwards. Pros - Made in U.S.A. - Lightweight - Compact - Durable - Inexpensive - Basic, no gimmicks Cons - Easy to lose ... show more

  • The ease of using it and the effectiveness of this tool.
I used it to prepare my wires for assembly of a vehicle component for my job.

  • Wire strippers
Little disappointed in these Klein wire strippers. I have a lot of Klein tools, and actually think they are great tools. But this set of wire strippers just don’t work as they should. They barley cut a 12 gauge stranded wire, and struggle to strip the wire once it is cut. Maybe I just received a bad set, because my other Klein wire strippers are some of the best tools I own, but this pair is not up to par with my other Klein tools. ... show more

  • Warning this is a metric cutter
I do have one issue with this product and I verified on my package that the number is the same as the one listed on here. The issue is that it's stated that there's an AWG when in fact it's all metric. Unless you're familiar with converting metric size to AWG, which I'm not then you're gonna be a bit confused. Fortunately I have a similar model that was given to me so it's probably older or even a slightly different model number, I'm not sure but it goes from 10 - 22 AWG . What I'm not so sure about is if there is a significant difference between the two. Other than that the product came and everything looks good. Nice feel in my hands and nice spring. I haven't used them in the field as I actually bought these to give away so I don't know but based on what I have already and these two I received I don't anticipate an issue. As I stated you must be aware that it's metric before you buy and it needs to reflect in the image and product description on Amazon. ... show more

  • Great tool for cutting and stripping smaller wires
This tool has become a very used device in my workshop. I am continually cutting, stripping and soldering wires in the size range of this tool. For larger wires, I use a different tool and for really small stuff I have one just for those, but for the mid-size wires that I seem to use most often, this tool really does the job. The handles have a wider portion on the outer edge to give you more force when cutting the solid wires, I find it fits my hands well, I wear large size gloves and this tool is not a problem to use, plenty sharp. It’s designed range is 10-20 AWG for both solid and stranded and that’s what I use it for. On the negative side, there’s no mechanism to lock the tool closed. While this isn’t necessary, it would be nicer to have when I stuff this in a carry bag to lower the risk of the sharp teeth snagging on and accidentally cutting something. I like that they work well, that they are made in the USA and meet my needs. 5 stars, I really love mine and use them weekly. ... show more

  • Skeptical at first, not anymore! - Very light tool!
Don't take me wrong, I was skeptical not because of the quality of the tool but rather the popularity contest between this tool and the other one..which I forget its name now but I know I had a debate whether or not to spend a few bucks more on this than with the other popular brand, but hey, that was until I realized these were made in the U.S.A by Klein so the moment I realized this there was no contest (like I once told a judge for a traffic citation) so I stuck with these, I received them, put them to test, they felt just good and right in my hand, they're thin and light and have a nice smooth feeling when stripping cables/wires, they truly do a marvelous job at it. I wasn't too happy with the 'Stock' photo Amazon had here, so I uploaded my own to give you an idea of what their real size is like, make sure you check them out, this is really a nice tool to have and you won't regret it once you purchase it. Overall, I would recommend this tool to friends with an A+!. P.S Always buy products sold or fulfilled by 'Amazon' you just can't go wrong with the returns if anything ever goes south. ... show more
