For every once in a while use this is great. It's inexpensive and simple. It heats up quickly and gets hot enough, I would think, for most users and uses around the house. Where this falls short is that it isn't able to maintain that high heat output for very long. I recently had the opportunity to put this head to head with harbor freight's top of the line offering and, though they had similar specs as far as heat output, the harbor freight (Hercules) blew this one away. Granted, the HF gun costs a bit more, but I was able to use it all day without losing effectiveness. This heat gun only managed maybe ten minutes at the highest heat, and that's being generous. My other quibble is the trigger level adjustment. Again, it probably wouldn't be an issue if you're only using it momentarily, but if you're using it for a while it's way too easy to hit the trigger and change the airflow accidentally. It's not a huge deal, but it is annoying. For my purposes around the house, doing minor projects, it's fine. I guess it's nice looking, if that matters to you, and it is straight forward and simple to use. Though in hindsight I wish I had spent a little more and gotten something of higher quality. (And I realize saying a Harbor Freight tool is higher quality should be laughable, but it is what it is) One last note that is just kind of funny and should maybe be a red flag; most of the other heat guns in this temp range say that they go up to 1200°.     • Excellent Little Heat Gun

This heat gun has been exactly what I needed, especially for the price. It does an excellent job heating acrylic to bend - I bought it to do custom water cooling for a PC and it gets the tubes hot enough to shape in about two to three minutes on the highest setting. I do have to knock one star off for the setting wheel. It's very free moving and easy to accidentally bump down to a lower setting just by brushing it with your finger which leads to spending way too much time heating something, wondering why it won't get hot enough before checking the settings and realizing it's moved. Still, for the price it is, it's excellent. Love the ability to stand it up to blow upwards, and the setting options are great. If that wheel were just a bit more secure it would be perfect. ... show more

USE WITH CAUTION! If you’re a crafter, and you’re replacing a small heat gun, be careful! This thing gets HOT! I love it! I’ve literally started a small fire with it in the grill just to see if I could. It works extremely well. The heat can be turned down as well.

Great for removing vinyl graphics or coatings from multiple surfaces, also helps to mold vinyl around difficult areas. great tool for vinyl installation work. I also use this to heat rubber hose lines for installation or removal, total life saver!
