I have been using these tools for the last couple weeks and I'm happy with the durability and how complete this set is. They are typical impact black oxide impact and are crv designated. Not sure why there is mention of description as painted? Maybe the crv identification is painted but not the tools themselves. Generally in any of your tools you're looking for the cr-mo or cr-v designation for hardness. Chrome-molybdenum and chrome-vanadium steel is what you're looking for in impacts, neither particularly superior to the other in my experience over 50 years. Cr-mo typically found in impacts only generally, and cr-v can be either impact with the black oxide coating or chrome plated. Some will argue cr-mo is better than cr-v but I have punished both, even chrome 12 point sockets with my IR impact, with low failure rates. Most failures have come from old style universal joints and 1/2 x 3/8 drive adapters snapping off the 3/8square drive. This style of universal is strong but a bit bulky and sometimes tough in tight spots. While the kit is well appointed, at least a 1 inch, 3/8 extension would really be tops but not included here, but I take nothing away from the set. I really put these to the test a few days ago doing heavy duty suspension work. I have multiple bolts that torque to 300 ft lb and I rattled these off with my impact taking about 5 seconds of pounding each before loosening. Rattled back on and final torqued to 300 ft lb. Quite happy with the punishment that these tools were able to withstand with no failures. Nice set and a great addition to the repair arsenal.

This more of an extension and adapter set vs a ‘Socket Driver Set’ as the Amazon product page suggests. The extensions and adapters themselves appear to be solid and they fit securely on my 1/2 and 3/8 inch drive hand ratchets as well as my impact driver and with my impact rated sockets. In my limited experience with these particular extensions and adapters, I have not encountered any situations that would indicate they are likely to fail during normal use. I deducted a star for the packaging of the product. All of the pieces contained in this set were absolutely swimming in some type of lubricant. The Amazon product page for this set touts the phosphate coating on the items as being able to stop all kinds of corrosion, so why ship them submerged in oil? Also, the plastic case is most definitely less sturdy and rugged than your kid’s ‘Bob the Builder’ toy tool case, so plan to have some other way of corralling these pieces and transporting them, because the provided tool case will not last long. All-in-all, the tools themselves are functional and well suited to the tasks most homeowners and handymen will undertake with them. The Exxon Valdez-level oil spill inside the case is an unpleasant inconvenience, and the flimsy fragile case is a failure.

Really great set of socket extensions. It is a complete set that covers all possible size combinations of 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2". I already have most of these size adapters from various other tool kits I have collected over the years, but it is really nice to have everything together in a matched kit with a fitted carry case. I really appreciate the case - this is SO much better than keeping all the adapters loose in my drawer and having to sort through them each time I need one. The materials and construction of the sockets are very good and they are nicely finished in a black nitride coating (that wasn't covered in oil). The sockets have holes for positive locking with the ball bearings and the sockets have very good fit with little slop or play. I really like the flex joint sockets - they have a full range of movement and are smooth with a mechanical joint. They are much better than the cheaper style ones that essentially just a loosely fitting socket that "wobbles." My only concern is the case is made from blown plastic and is a bit flimsy in the joints which do not use mechanical hinges. So they will eventually fail over time. At that point, I'll have to figure out how to repair the case since it is an integral part of this kit. But in my opinion, it is still worth it.

I'm female and have been widowed for 7 yrs now. I try and do all the fixing, installing and mending I can by myself. It seems I was always missing the size of tool I needed which, in turn set me back on getting my projects done so, I was glad to see this kit come up. It's a decent sized kit with just about everything you need to get the job done. The case feels plenty durable enough to last a good while and all the tools stay secured in their places when stored. I'm obviously no mechanic but feel these are solid enough to take on your everyday needs around the house and farm. The tools are marked and easy to read. I noticed they have a thin layer of grease all over them to keep them from rusting while being stored. This can be a good thing and a not so good thing as this can get all over your workstation and whatever project you're working on......but then, that's nothing a good wipe down won't take care of. The price point is good for what you get. I'm very happy with them, they suit my needs perfectly. Now I have the tools I need to get the job done.
