    • Good value and simple to operate
I bought this for use around my residence, not heavy clearing. Having said that, it works great. I have cut branches with a diameter of up to 8" easily. Simple to start up and operate as well. I purchased premixed fuel for 2 cycle engines rather than the mixing tools they provided.

Couple of tips: 1. Use a quality 2 stroke oil at 32:1 oil ratio. Many chinese chain saw companies say to break in the chainsaw at 20:1. If you do this, it will be hard to start when cold and even harder when engine is warm. When brand new, it wasn't the easiest to start but following the instructions paid off. Press the prime button at least 10 times and then it will start with choke set. I put it to work after a 2 minute idle. The idle was rock steady and didn't falter after long idle period when throttle was engaged. After the first tank, I went from 32:1 to 40:1 ( I use Maxima 927 which has 20% degummed castor oil in it and is sueprior for high temp engine protection) and the engine exhaust was cleaner. Cold starts were 2-3 pulls but hot starts occured on a single easy pull. Power was satisfactory for a home use chain saw. I live at 6000 feet altitude and every gas engine loses 3% in horsepower/torque for every 1000 feet in gain. With the 18% power loss at high altitude I live, the chain saw performed admirably and I can only imagine how well it does at sea level! Chain stretched a bit on the first tree I cut down but that was expected and normal on a new chain. I'm not running the engine as lean as it should and if I tweak the high end jet leaner,, I'm sure it will be in two-stroke harmony. The bar lube that comes with the chainsaw is too viscous to flow properly. I thinned it a bit with 2 stroke oil. The chain saw is built like tank and smaller persons may find it heavy. Is is not as lightweight as my neighbor's Stihl (he was out cutting trees too this afternoon) but for a fraction of the price, it is an amazing chain saw. I can't wait to try it out tomorrow as I have another tree to cut down. I highly recommend this product and if are concerned about weight, I think the 16 inch bar option would be better. ... show more

The BILT HARD 16 inch gas chain saw is a good value. It works well and started up easily. I think I am starting to like the battery saw I got better but if you prefer a gas saw then this unit works easy enough. The advantage this unit has over the battery saws is when you have a lot of work to do and don't want to have to wait between battery charges. ... show more
