I received this incubator last week after much debate over buying it or live chicks. My flock is savage, so no raising babies for them, many failed attempts later. My fertilized eggs have been in the incubator for 3 days. An important detail is that the dome fits very securely, no wiggle once in place. I say this because I started with 10 eggs but added 2 within 24 hours of starting the incubation period. The humidity dropped and did not increase as it did at the initial start up, after a few hours was up past 70%. So I checked the dome and it had some movement, then seated into place correctly. So far, it is working great, temp holding at 100 degrees, humidity now up, and rotates eggs every 2 hours. The unit is easy to use and instructions are understandable. The only thing that would improve this unit is to provide a bit more room for each egg. I have several jumbo eggs, so they are a little crowded. Very nice incubator.

The media could not be loaded. I purchased this incubator with the intention on hatching my own store purchased fertile eggs (instead of buying chicks) and rasing chickens for the sole purpose of having our own fresh eggs. I actually bought my fertile eggs from a local grocery store, which is crazy lol. (Make sure if you're planning on doing the same, you make sure the eggs are fertile and not the regular everyday store bought eggs) I wanted to go through the whole process of the whole egg experience, which has been an amazing little journey. I have enjoyed every step of this process and am excited that I have 6 more days until hatching day! I started with 10 and now have 3. In no way is that the fault of anyone (me, the incubator etc.) This is just life and what can happen during the incubation process. The incubator keeps at the temperature that you set it, so this part was great. The humidity level was a little more of a challenge for me. I base this on the temperature of my home, the location I have the incubator (my kitchen counter) as well being new to this whole thing. Towards these last days I've finally managed to keep the humidity level within a certain range after some trial and error. The Styrofoam insert (don't throw that way) is definitely a life saver in helping keep the humidity level set at a steady temp for a great portion of the day. At night time, I wrap a towel around it as well since it gets so cold at night. The incubator also has an automatic egg Turner (which you need for most of the 21 days). I've seen some incubators that require you to manually turn them and for being my first time, I wanted it to be one less step I would have to do (or remember to do) The incubator is very easy to use, It is nearly silent and it's definitely great quality for a beginner backyard breeder like me. The incubator itself is not cheaply made and seems to me to be very durable for the purposes of hatching eggs. I have had no issues with this at all. It holds 12 eggs, which I recommend you start with 10-12 as a beginner, I'm glad I did. I will give an update (hopefully as a chick mama) as to how it help up after the chicks hatched inside!

The media could not be loaded. Used this twice now. For the price it’s amazing! Out of 12 silkie eggs I incubated one wasn’t fertile and I only had one quitter. I hatched 10 beautiful silkie chicks for the first time reading instructions and all I could about the breed I have. Very easy to set up and follow instructions. The only issue would be the humidity stability could use improvement other wise it’s durable and the temperature is great! A strong brooder for chicks to hatch and even run around. Out of all ten that hatched only one with a splayed leg so it’s stabile, temperature stayed stable, just watch the humidity.

Good product for the money. It works well and I’ve hatched chicks already from it. Upon entering lockdownn I removed the turner and put down drawer liners for the chicks safety when hatching so their feet don’t get caught in the holder. It does stop turning upon entering lock down which I believe is automatically set for 3 days prior to the days of incubation you set. (Chickens 21, geese 29 or 30) The instructions are easy to follow for setting incubation days and adjusting temp setpoint. One thing to note is that upon turning it on the incubation day starts at Day 1 instead of 0 so take that into consideration when you stare to freak out because none of your eggs have stared pipping on the expected day. I learned this with the first batch of chicken eggs I set. The incubator said day 21 and I noticed nothing was pipping as expected, then I realized they were only in there for 20 full days at that time since it started as Day 1. I placed several independent thermometers/hygrometers inside and it is surprisingly consistent in temperature humidity throughout the incubator. We had a cold spell and our house temp was kept at 67F so I did keep the incubator in the styrofoam packaging it comes with as directed to help maintain the temp. It does take monitoring of the humidity and adjusting the air vent as necessary to increase or decrease it as the bottles of water simply keep the compartments under the eggs full of water. Use one bottle in the first slot for the initial incubation period (humidity stays around 45-55%) and then add the second bottle during lockdown to raise the humidity up to 65-75%. It will sound an alarm anytime the humidity drops below 40%. You can silence the alarm by pushing any of the control buttons, but it will sound again after a certain amount of time if the humidity isn’t corrected. It comes with an egg holder for larger eggs as well. It fits goose eggs perfectly and has no issue turning them. I removed the egg holder/turner because I hand turn my eggs. It will hold 8 goose eggs with the turner or 9 goose eggs comfortably if you remove the egg turner. I will probably be purchasing another of these incubators in the near future to set another batch of eggs while the current ones finish incubating.
