Well worth the money
I have been using an 8,000 BTU portable air conditioner for a number of years. A year ago I purchased a 10,00 BTU unit - it did not cool. in fact, it was warmer in the room overnight instead of cooler. I discovered that the unit was not defective but actually was smaller in cooling capacity than my old one. The government has changed the way that they rate portable AC units - a current model 10,000 BTU unit only has the cooling capacity of an old 6000 BTU unit. I purchased the 16,000 BTU SNOCOD unit and am very pleased with the unit. It is small and quiet and is easy to install. More importantly, it is cooling the room nicely. Being a 16,000 BTU unit under the new rating system makes it about 12,000 under the old system - about 50% larger than my old unit. When you do the unboxing of the unit I would recommend opening the top of the box and removing the tray with the accessories then cutting the straps at the bottom of the box and lifting the box off and up. By opening the box this way there is no need to lift the 50 lb. unit into the air to get it out of the container, just a few inches to clear the bottom and place it on it's wheels to roll into position. I'm very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to others - buy the larger unit and you'll be pleased too. Added 7/16/26 This unit is very good at removing moisture from the air and with the temperature at 90+ degrees and high humidity you may see on the display a Ft message and the unit has shut off. Usually the unit uses the moisture it has removed to cool it's coils or is expelled thru the exhaust hose. If the internal water tank gets full this message will appear. To drain the tank you can connect the included hose to the upper drain connection and drain it into a bucket. What I have done is to purchase a gallon storage container with a lid from my dollar store and put a hole in the lid to pass the hose into. Depending on the humidity you may need to empty this a couple of times a day but it's a lot easier (and lighter) than a 5 gallon bucket. Also, it should be noted that if the outside temperature is 90 degrees that the unit is not going to cool the room to 70 unless it's a fairly small area. This is true of any AC unit - the larger the area the larger the unit needs to be. ... show more

Nice but not 16,000 BTU
Arrived quickly, setup was easy, got it on Wifi quickly and added to the SmartLife app without issue. It blows cold air (25 degrees colder than ambient air, which is great). The unit is very well made and quiet. However, this unit is probably not a 16,000 btu unit. It pulls only 750 watts from the outlet when running, while other 14,000 btu units pull over 1,000 when fully running. It is also unable to lower the temperature in my 700 square foot finished garage. It blows cold air, and is nice to stand in front of, but it does not drop the temperature a single degree. It is also much smaller than 14,000 BTU units, so I'm not sure how they crammed 16,000 BTU worth of coils and compressor in this. My guess is that this is probably a 8,000 or 6,000 btu unit being sold as a 16,000 btu unit. Now that I own it, I notice that there are very few specifications on the description page like the ASHRAE or CEER rating which are what really matters when it comes to cooling. . ... show more

This air conditioner was able to keep our whole upstairs cool all summer long. It is not too loud and super easy to install into the window! Kept my kids sleeping comfortably

do not recommend! did not cool 650 sq ft ever
does not perform well. This unit was twice the cost of a 8000k btu Pelonis brand (PB) we bought the day before at a local Menards. But we had a 650 sq ft room and figured at 16k btu we needed this unit. The 8k for the 300 sq ft room. First off the build quality is no where near as nice! we let the unit sit for 24 hours and then put it to work. after 8 hours the unit barley removed a few gallons of water and the room was maybe a few degrees cooler, while the PB had dumped about 8-10 gal water and the room was very cold! (notice the energy guide tag showed this unit using even at twice the BTU used quite a bit less energy than the PB) so we switched the units up, PB in big room, and this unit in smaller 300 sq ft room. the unit did perform better but no where near the PB in water removal nor cooling. look at the wattage and you will see this is a 6-8k unit being sold as a 16k for twice the cost. Now granted, it was very hot, but both units had the same conditions. Point being we kept the PB and returned the crappy one. glad we had them both to compare, and yes the PB struggled in the 650 sq ft area, but pulled much more water and did cool noticeably better. units were about the same in noise level. ... show more

A new fav
So I was skeptical I have never had a portable unit only window, this was cheaper than a window model for the same sq footage. It’s fairly compact in size the tube attached isn’t super long but it’s working for where I have it. Attaching the tubing and venting it was easy peasy. I had seen some reviews of people saying it didn’t cool their spaces and it went up a couple degrees on display, I believe those people might have had it on the fan mode not cool because when I put it on cold it has me set a temp and no longer tells me what the room temp is. We live in the Central Valley in California and it is easy 100+ most of the summer and this along with a window unit at the opposite end of the house is keeping us comfortable ... show more

Doesn't meet rating for SqFt.
Moves plenty of air and so far we've only needed the A/C function. Live in the Pacific Northwest. With summer temps averaging upper 80's, this A/C unit barely keeps up with demand (72F daytime, 68F nighttime). It has been running almost nonstop for about 8 weeks now and hasn't missed a beat. This 16,000 BTU unit was advertised for 750 sq.ft. And it struggles to cool +/- 200sq. Ft. I have added cardboard/tape to the window mount kit in order to block leakage but it doesn't help. Also, it has plenty of features but not the ones I want. When I run it at night and set it to 68F, sometimes it gets to the desired temperature and shuts off. The white noise soothes me to sleep and when it shuts off and the room goes quiet, I'll wake up. I then grab the remote and turn the fan mode. Then the room warms up and the cycle starts anew. In comes "sleep mode." This mode is not practical. The unit will run at desired temperature for 1-2hrs, then raise the temperature 1-2def F. Another 1-2 hrs later it does that again. While in sleep mode, the fan runs and the lights dim. This is nice but it's all programmed to be a certain way no deviations! In short, I wish I could set it to A/C mode and when it reaches desired temperature, just stay in fan mode. I wouldn't recommend this unit if your daily highs get I to the 90's or more regularly. ... show more

Keep looking
Unfortunately, it states that it is 16000 btu. It was placed in a 650 sq ft livingroom and did not cool it off. It did work OK in a small bedroom. I placed our 11000 btu Samsung from downstairs and it cooled well. This is after we sent the first one back because the unit was hardly cooling. Not impressed at all by the unit, and was used only in a small bedroom this summer. Frankly, this is the only AC unit I have seen that doesn't have the btu size listed on the unit, just what it stated on Amazon. Not impressed by it at all and only gave it 2 stars because it actually started up. Unless your using it in a small room, bypass it completely. ... show more

This standing air conditioner is fantastic. I bought it for my son's room, and it cools the room quickly. It's quiet and won't wake him. I usually set it to automatically turn off after 3 hours, which is enough to keep the whole room cool. I really like this air conditioner.
