    • Excellent Performance and Solid Value
I use these for nature watching and for general glassing, including viewing aircraft. They are outstanding for both applications. The lenses and prisms are very clear and uniform, and the lens coatings work really well. Color is dead accurate and they do a great job of extending my ability to see at distance as the daylight fades. The large objective lenses really suck in the light at dusk. I tracked and identified geese, ducks, and osprey on the wing and in the water at 700-800 yards. I also spotted deer as they crossed the marsh at dusk. I also looked at the moon when it first rose, and they view was crisp and vivid. The field of view was what I expected, and I had no trouble keeping them steady or holding them up without bracing my arms on anything. The build quality is also quite good. They are not overly heavy, but do feel nice and solid. The green rubber coating looks a bit cheesy in the picture, but it is actually a bit more subdued and matte (not shiny) so they look very nice. More importantly, the rubber armor is not slick at all even when wet, and it has plenty of texture and stippling in key areas to help your grip. The focus knob is easy to adjust; it takes just the right amount of pressure and is very stable. The adjustable eye relief also works well and is stable. I love the neck strap! The wide (1.25 inches) neoprene part is long enough (14 inches) to provide plenty of stretch and comfort. It also appears to be well made - the stitching attaching the nylon strap to the neoprene extends for almost 2 inches up the middle of the nylon, as well as across the bottom of the fake leather patches where the two parts meet. The lens caps are nice and rubbery and fit well. Best of all, they are attached. The objective lens caps come pre-attached, and the neck strap (once one install it) keeps the other ones attached. The case is also nice. The materials and stitching are very good and it should last a long time. I haven't tried the phone attachment. Gigapenguin may be an odd name, and they weren't made in Europe, but these binoculars are an excellent value. I don't think anyone will be disappointed with them. ... show more

I have enjoyed bird watching with my daughter, but not the part that I have to hold the binocular for her to shoot through the glasses: it often so happens that either the phone pushes the binocular off the target or the lens are not aligned with the glasses. After searching around, I bough this binocular and adapter combo while it is on sale to give it a try. The binocular itself is sturdy and well built. I took it out for a test today while going to a weekend game. The set is easy to set up and operate: you can hold the binocular with both hands while dialing to focus; after focusing the best is to use voice command to activate the photo taking - otherwise, you do need to free one hand for that. Most importantly, the the range is amazing. Check out the photos taken on an iphone: the first picture was on 1x zoom without the binocular, I was a football field, 1 baseball field and some green space away from the school entrance; the school sign is barely distinguishable (white circle). Using the binocular, there were dark corners with the 1x zoom on the phone (the second picture). The dark corners completely disappeared at 1.7x zoom (the third photo) and the letters on the school sign is clearly captured. Overall, I find the binocular/adapter set easy to use and with good quality for the price. Cannot wait to bring it to the woods. One minor comment is that the quality of the binocular straps could be better. ... show more
