The media could not be loaded. I have now spent several months with this motor. I will stick with my 5-star rating for the price. Other commenters talk about the motor "shorting out", this is actually overload protection built into the motor, That happens when you try to run it "wide open throttle" against a load that exceeds the motor's safe capacity. Would you climb in your car, start the motor and smash the accelerator pedal to the floor? Even though the motor might be able to go 1500 RPM at Wide Open Throttle, you typically don't run it at that. You need to find it's sweet spot for your particular craft, and that depends on its displacement (Mass) Next, the technical support was competent. I was able to reach an English-speaking agent via email for the company who was able to handle a missing part issue. The motor is more efficient than a Minn-Kota Brushed motor when given the same power inputs vs speed through water. (for about the same cost) You do have to come up with a 24 volt power supply, usually two 12v batteries in series. I tested several different propellers with the motor. The stock prop was well-fitted for the motor, not exceeding the motor's load capacity (50 amps) at wide open throttle with my 17-foot canoe. But, the stock props (I tried two) had a slight vibration that was annoying. When I substituted other propellers (APC Model Airplane, Right-hand Pitch, 5" and 10" pitch varieties) the vibration went away, and we got an extra 10% efficiency with a 5" pitch prop at 300 watts (Watts vs MPH) on my 17-foot square stern canoe. Would I purchase one of these motors again? YES, I would. Would I expect it to push my 4000 pound cruiser all day at wide open throuttle? NO I wouldn't. But, it scoots my canoe along just fine. ... show more

    • max thrust is not continuous
this motor advertises 150 lb thrust. but this is deceiving, it cannot maintain maximum thrust for long. for any thrust beyond 50%, it will cut out power after about 5 seconds. you need to turn it off an on again to restart. very frustrating.
