First thing to know is that this thing is HEAVY (as are all portable AC units). So "portable" is a bit of a misnomer. You can wheel it around the house but not easily take it up or down stairs . Function wise, it seems to work pretty well. I started out with the cooling and it seemed to cool a decent size room pretty quickly. I think the description of BTU/cooling area is probably accurate. It's important to note that you still need to be near a window to vent the hot waste air out. The duct is pretty long though so it should easily reach most windows, even if they are higher up. You also need to drain the water into a bucket so it doesn't leak. The noise is audible but not too distracting or loud. The heating function works well also.

Where do you start on a review for an air conditioner? That does everything? This is actually the second portable air conditioner that I’ve owned at first you may not realize why you need one or whatever want one. I have an old house while I have a new air conditioner outside the venting through the house doesn’t really reach the far sides of the house well, so in order to be comfortable I need a second air conditioner down at the other end. Well, yes I could do a mini split or other more invasive approaches where I have to go through the walls a portal air conditioner allows me to open a window, attach the venting and the tube and call it a day come winter I packed the whole thing up and roll it into a closet works great Enter the hum hold 14000 BTU unit. First what you need to know is it’s heavy it does have we also so it rolls around fairly easily, but it is heavy definitely not something that an older relative or someone’s gonna want to hike upstairs so just be aware. This unit has 4 actions (AC heater, Humidifier and fan). AC mode. Is designed to cool a room up to 700 sq feet. The room I was smaller than this and it cooled out amazingly. Portable units are not very efficient but in my case, it cooled it excellently. It actually didn’t need to run constantly. It was turning on and off. It’s very quiet and the when the compressor kicks on it’s very subtle. Humidifier well I don’t have a way to actually measure. If it’s working effectively, it seemed to you set the humidifier level and it runs automatically. It’s very easy very straightforward. I’m obviously it’s using the heater in the air conditioner intermittently depending on what it’s trying to do add moisture or reduce moisture, but it seemed to make the room feel better at least that’s what I experienced. Heater. It’s basically a glorified space heater. It works effectively. It kicks on and off as you would expected to and the fan blows the warm air around. It does seem to pull extra moisture if you’re using the humidity or function, so it does add moisture back into the room, which is nice where it’s not just like a hairdryer warmth. It’s actually a little bit more of a comforting warmth. Final feature is the fan and it is what you expect. It’s a fan that blows it’s quiet. It does not rotate at all so it’s going to blow straight out, but it does have fan blades at the top that move slightly so it will kind of oscillate up and down a little bit, but it’s definitely not a fence designed to move air into the room. If you’ve ever shot for these, they can be extremely expensive. This one is a good value for the money for what I’ve compared if you’re looking for a portable air conditioner or need something for an extra room, garage storage shed or like in my case and older home this is a great option for you.

My HVAC system is going on 18 years so I have been wanting to have a backup just incase case it goes out, that and I have around 5 computers in my office that act as mini space heaters. When this unit arrived I was little worried about how tall the box was but after unboxing it was happy to see that it's a fairly compact unit. The setup was super easy, to unbox cut the straps, pull the top off the box, remove a few pieces of foam then roll it to where you need it (it has wheels). I ended up rolling it into my office which was at 74 degrees (see pics) to try it out. Installing the vent was really easy, all you do is click the vent into the window insert, open your window then slide it in and close it so it's a good fit (if it's more of a permanent install they also include foam insulation). Then the other end of the vent just slides down to the exhaust area of the back of the unit until it clicks. As far as cooling goes, the temp in my office went from 74 degrees to 70 degrees in about 20 minutes, and that was with all my computers running. I felt the air coming out of the unit and it was ice cold, so I was happy to see that. I went on the outside of my house near the window to see if I could feel the exhaust air, and it was clearly exhausting hot air. A nice function of the unit is ability to control the air direction, using the remote (or buttons on the unit) there is a button to point the vents up or at a 45 degree angle, or have it oscillate between the 2 continuously. On the remote you can click the mode button to put it in 'cool', 'heat', 'dry' (dehumidifier mode), or fan, and set the desired temp. Another nice touch is being able to turn off the LED display while sleeping with the remote. Over all for the price I think this a good value, there is a lot of functionality and you'll be covered in the winter or summer. As far as noise goes it is a little loud when it's running full blast, but once it gets to temp you really only hear the whirr of the fans. If you're like me and enjoy white noise this unit will not bother you, if you're sensitive to it then you may find it distracting while the compressor is running, but when only the fan is running it wasn't noticeable to me. Overall I really like this unit and now have some peace of mind if anything happens to my hvac.
