  • Nice controls, intuitive setting, good price!
Pros: It works, it burns welding rod, it weighs 5 lbs. It came with decently long welding leads, and ac cord. It looks good. The control allows you to select MMA or Lift TIG (you have to have a TIG torch and gas setup, not included); Hot start, Arc force, VRD, and anti-stick and amperage, all on one control. I found it easy to understand, and the control has detented, very precise adjustments, down to one single amp change, and the readouts are bright and clear. The seller included 10 sticks of welding rod. Cons: The cheapest set of welding gloves I've ever seen, and a nearly-useless 'instruction manual'. You'll be running for youtube with questions. The open-circuit voltage was a (VRD ON) 12.82 VDC at any amperage setting. 60VDC VRD off. The output amperage tracked fairly closely to the setting readout- see the pix, at lower settings the output was a bit higher than the readout, and at max, 135A actual was 131. For the techies: my test rig was a DC clamp ammeter on the negative work clamp, which reads 1 mv per amp at the 400A setting. It fed a Fluke 111 DVM, which was set to DC mV; and the Min/Max selection set to Max. I struck an arc and burned rod for several seconds to record max amps. This is the second small welder I've tried, and so far my favorite. This looks to be a good learning machine (though I still stick a LOT of arc starts!!). Recommended for occasional, diy, and learning welders- for under 60 bucks, it's a deal, with some cool features. Youtube has some guys doing pretty serious jobs with this, but they are pros! ... show more

  • Great portable welder for smaller jobs
I have a very large welder in my shop that I’ve used for over 30 years. Lately I have needed some small welding projects done where it was not convenient, could not be brought to the shop or the big welder could not be easily be brought to the job. I believe that’s where this welder shines. Very portable 110 V that I can plug into a smaller generator and go to the job. I tried this welder out on a few small scrap pieces of metal. Honestly, I have not welded with the stick welder in quite some time as my big machine is a mig tig welder. I was able to run a bead, and had it been on a project in the field, I believe it would’ve done the job nicely. ... show more

  • Nice little machine to do small stick and tig welds
This is a pretty good little machine for just small jobs Stick welding and lift arc tig. There is no gas inlet or control through the machine so you will have to have a gas in line adapter and a TIG torch with a gas valve to be able to tig from this machine. But it does pretty good on a small stuff. I spent years when I was coming into the welding field using scratch start tig rigs, so lift arc is no big deal to me. I love my high frequency machines I have now but I don't like always using them for every situation. I think for this price point to be able to stick and tig "DC only" it's a heck of a deal and a very compact size. Controls are very easily figured out. As usual with most of these lower price machines the leads that come with them are not that great, I believe these are copper clad aluminum leads and the actual stingers are horrible. If you get one of these machines you might as well go ahead and spend some money and get you a decent set of tinned copper or pure oxygen free copper welding leads. I would suggest going with four gauge that way you have a little more versatility with some higher amperage but they're not super stiff and heavy to lug around. The leads can go from machine to machine with you and at most you'll need a dinse adapter. Its well worth the investment and if you take care of them will last for years and years. ... show more

  • Sometimes It Works, Sometimes It Doesn’t – Sketchy but Entertaining!
I bought this 135A Stick Welder thinking it would be the perfect addition to my shop, but honestly, it's a bit like playing a game of Russian Roulette with welding. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve tried multiple steels, settings, and even performed a little "weld dance" to see if that helps, but no luck. The synergic control is cool in theory, but it seems to have a mind of its own – kind of like that one friend who shows up to the party with a great attitude, then immediately falls asleep on the couch. The digital display flashes like it’s alive, but who knows what it's trying to say. When it does work, it’s actually pretty decent, but getting it to work is like convincing a cat to take a bath. Hot start, arc force, VRD, anti-stick – they all sound great, but half the time the welder is more interested in doing its own thing than actually welding. In the end, it’s a bit sketchy, but if you’re feeling adventurous and enjoy a little frustration, it could be the welder for you! 3 stars for the occasional success and entertainment value! ... show more

  • Exactly as pictured
My husband thinks this is great - so I have to take his word on it, because I really don't know much about welders and welding in general, but he does. He wanted something small-ish so he could move it around easily depending on the job he was working on so he said this is perfect for that aspect. It packs enough power to get the job done, but it's so huge that you can't easily move it when needed as well. Easy to set up and use, so overall - pleased with this. ... show more

  • works great
This is a nice welder for small projects around our property. It comes in handy when we need to do some small light welds. The gloves that come with it are not usable only have 4 fingers on them ( no thumb ). The welder does a nice job and is easy to use.

  • Great welder
Great little welder, does very well. Recommend buying some different rods than what come with it though. They burn up pretty quick. Welder really is awesome though
