Have wanted to get into the hobby for years and this unit was perfect for my needs, at first. As others have mentioned, this unit takes much of the guess work out, easy learning curve with the wonderful display. The only reason why I returned the unit, is that living in FL, most of the "good" targets are located deeper in the shoreline. Although the coil is waterproof, the entire unit is not. Also, I learned very quickly that in FL, there are not as many inland locations that allow detecting as I thought. If this is of no concern, certainly consider this unit. After assembly and within the first 10mins of a test run in my front yard, I found the few items pictured. Great unit for the beginners at a great price. ... show more

    • Wide coverage for easy scanning of large areas!
The media could not be loaded. Here’s a video my mom took of my dad the first time he turned it on! LOL! He’s a goofball, (and that’s totally NOT a gold ladder!) but I got this for him to scan their property and along in the river where they bring the dogs! - He’s actually quite experienced with metal detecting, but the one he had died several years back and he was absolutely smitten with this one! - Even though it’s him joking around, you can hear how loud the audible beep is without using headphones - He’s getting older and he’s aiming to be more efficient in pretty much everything, so I knew this was going to be great! - He can scan large areas (this has pretty crazy scan coverage), fine tune the sensitivity when he gets a hit (registers depth!), and then swap to pinpoint mode and bring in the footprint of the scan to really dial in on where to start digging! - Hands down one of the better options out there for ease of scanning and detecting the things you want to dig for! - Would get this again! 10/10 ... show more

What can I say I remember 40+ years ago being amazed by metal detectors and how impressive their accuracy was then. They seemed so easy to use... they were very simple compared to today's units. This isn't as amazing as the best of today's units.... but that said it is stout. It has an overall good feel and pretty good performance for its price point.     • Very Impressed With Everything About This Metal Detector
I've had a metal detector for years and have used it to find a few lost items for people. I am fairly familiar with what they used to be like. I can confidently say that this metal detector far exceeded what I expected when I ordered it. I actually read the instructions before I started (okay, I'm a nerd). They were easy to understand and written in American. Here's a very strong point for getting this detector: It is designed and is assembled like it was made by a real person who actually uses one - not a committee or worse, an engineer. All the pieces made sense, fit very well, are strong materials and went together perfectly! What else can you say that about, lately?! The included shovel/pick was nicer and stronger than expected and has its own case. The included case for the unit is plenty heavy material and has nice zippers and extra storage and a carry strap. Batteries were included. The headphones have soft ear covers and sound fine. The LED display makes perfect sense and has simple switches to adjust to whatever you are looking for. Display was plenty bright. I tested it on coins and household metal and it responded perfectly right up through identifying a 50 cent piece. I recommend everything about this detector. So many options on the screen. It will tell you what kind of metal it is how deep it is and the size it is. Light enough to hold for a long time. Love the shovel it comes with. It all can be compact enough for easy transport.

This unit is a quality build,it can target iron,foil,Ni/5¢,Alum,Zn/1¢,Dime,Qtr and 50¢. Gold objects register towards the middle or left of the LCD scale. It also comes with head phones,compact shovel and a carrying bag with shoulder strap.
